  • Patent number: 5433808
Abstract: In order to achieve a good mounted state by itself without using other members such as spacers or stabilizers, an enlarged section, which is made by enlarging the inner wall of the hollow portion, is provided in the hollow of the hollow portion having the same contour shape throughout the entire length of the hollow extrudate. Thus, the regions such as the corners of the hollow portion are reinforced by said enlarged section to achieve required rigidity, i.e., position-retaining property.

  • Patent number: 5433913
Abstract: A method of manufacturing and mass-producing a seamless heat-resistant resinous tube with a uniform tube wall thickness and circumference, which includes the steps of coating the precursor solution of a tube material to the surface of a core at a thickness greater than the tube wall thickness; passing a metallic die having a wider inside diameter than the diameter of the core along the outside of the core by utilizing the resistant force of the precursor solution without restricting the metallic die or the core, thus forming a tube around the core; treating the tube around the core to give it strength as a tube; and separating the tube from the core.

  • Patent number: 5431999
Abstract: A process of high-speed spinning of a set of thermoplastic monofilaments having a linear density from 1 to 30 dtex, includes spinning to obtain melt-spun thermoplastic monofilaments and airblast cooling of the melt-spun monofilaments. To produce a particularly fine monofilament at high winding speeds, the process also includes guiding the thermoplastic monofilaments directly over a fork-like friction element having axially parallel, spaced apart upper and lower contacting friction surfaces during the airblast cooling, and then spin finishing and winding up the thermoplastic monofilaments. An apparatus for melt-spinning including the friction element is described. The product monofilament produced by the process can have an elongation of 20 to 45%, a strength of 36 to 60 cN/tex; a boil shrinkage of 2 to 15%; an Uster % less than 1 and a uniformly round cross section.

  • Patent number: 5422063
Abstract: The invention proposes an improved process and a device for cooling the internal surface of the wall of a pipe made of plastic during its manufacture by extrusion. The cooling agent is dispersed on the internal surface of the pipe by successive atomization at given time intervals. The cooling agent is advantageously dispersed by means of an injection which is displaced axially inside the pipe in a reciprocating movement. The injector may be advantageously equipped with means providing a rotating cone of dispersed droplets.

  • Patent number: 5409653
Abstract: A method of forming an elongated trim strip product by extruding a first strip of thermoplastic material from a die having an outlet with an area at least substantially as great as the desired cross-sectional area of the strip product in planes perpendicular to the direction of extrusion. Immediately subsequent to the step of extruding and while the extruded strip is still in a plastic state, it is passed longitudinally between cooperating forming rolls to shape the cross section of the extruded strip to the desired shape and cross section of the strip product. While the extruded strip is passing between the cooperating forming rolls, a backing strip of foil or thin metal is directed between the rolls in alignment with the extruded strip to bond the backing strip to the extruded strip.

  • Patent number: 5407624
Abstract: A processing line forms a desired end product for a plastic extrusion machine by supplying raw plastic material to a shredder. The shredder forms partially-fused, irregularly-shaped chunks of the raw plastic. The use of the shredder eliminates the requirement of extraneous matter separation prior to feeding of the shredder. The output of the shredder is conveyed to a ram feeder after passing material separators, such as a magnet and/or a metal detector or the like. The ram feeder forces the chunks to an extruder which ultimately supplies liquified plastic to a pelletizer to form pellets. The pellets are transferred to a storage vat for reuse.

  • Patent number: 5405569
Abstract: A travelling mold tunnel for forming double walled corrugated tube has a first portion for forming corrugated tube and a second belled portion for forming a cuff portion suitable for coupling with another tube. At the upstream end of the belled portion, radial small diameter passages are provided so that a pressure differential may be set up between the inside and the outside of a first parison within the belled portion. Thus, vacuum may be applied through the radial passages to allow an inner parison to laminate with the first parison over its inner surface in the belled portion. The first parison is drawn into the passages in protruding balloons. These may be ruptured. Alternatively, positive pressure may be used. In this case, the balloons may be ruptured inwardly.

  • Patent number: 5401454
Abstract: An extrusion die and flow control method incorporates a flow control in the form of a flow diverter which extends transversely across the flow path. The diverter forms part of a window upstream of the die lips and provides a slight tapering enlargement which may be moved along the window across the flow path from one side to the other or preferably, from the center symmetrically outwardly, or vice versa, to divert flow from the center proportionally to the edges without changing the total cross sectional area of the window. The window is formed by a pair of axially rotatable cylindrical bars recessed in the die body which each have a flat forming the enlargement. In the preferred form the flat is helical. The helical flats are opposed or matched so that as the bars contra-rotate synchronously the enlargement will move across the window.
