  • Patent number: 5823847
Abstract: A moving mouth mechanism for an animated character, the mechanism being mounted within the head of the animated character, such as a doll. A head member of the character has an electrical motor mounted in the head upper portion, and has an elongated flexible element or string attached at one end to a rotatable shaft extension of the motor. The other end of the string is attached to a pivotable lever which is spring actuated. The lever outer end is attached to a pivotable lower lip of the mouth in the head, so that whenever the motor is activated with an electrical signal such as from an audio and control system for the activated character, the pivotable lower lip is movable upward and downward so as to simulate normal realistic speech for the animated character.

  • Patent number: 5823844
Abstract: A vibrating toy is provided and includes a housing, a battery mounted within the housing, a motor mounted within the housing activated by the battery, a shaft driven by the motor, a mechanism on the shaft for imparting an eccentric vibration from the housing, a play element outside of the housing, and a mechanism for connecting the play element to the housing and through which the play element can receive vibrations generated from the mechanism that imparts the eccentric vibration. A weighted element attached to the shaft in a manner to unsymmetrically distribute weight imparts the eccentric vibration. In a particularly preferred embodiment, a vibration is transferred to the housing which in turn through contact vibrates a wire serving as the mechanism that connects to the play element. The invention further concerns a method whereby a live pet animal can be entertained by interaction with the aforementioned vibrating toy.

  • Patent number: 5816884
Abstract: A music box having a water pump structure, especially to a music box in combination with a water pump, includes a music box, a water pump, and a regulating valve wherein the music box is provided with a linking member by which the water pump is connected with the music box. The linking member is associated with a water pressure plate of the water pump and the movement of the linking member triggered off by the music box will activate the water pressure plate to move back and forth. The to-and-fro movement of the water pressure plate will in turn generate a pressure, forcing water to circulate in and out of two main bodies of the water pump. In addition, the regulating valve having one-dimensional water influx and discharging valves is adapted to regulate the water circulation in one direction.
