Abstract: Systems and methods provide a network's synchronization status to a terminal when the terminal receives a transmission from the network. This network synchronization status can be indicated in accordance with various methods including, but not limited to the following: with a status flag in a network message; in a network capability indication; in a network's positioning capability indication; cell/network time relation information; in a time relation information of different Radio Access Technologies; and implicitly with another parameter and/or by a request for a certain measurement. When the network's synchronization status is determined, accurate time information/time assistance data can be maintained at the terminal.

  • Patent number: 8929223
Abstract: In a system to control a VoIP service, a user terminal performs a first registration procedure of a CSCF through a first P-CSCF using a first mobile IP allocated from a wireless LAN, monitors a signal intensity of the wireless LAN while receiving the VoIP service over the wireless LAN, and performs a second registration procedure through a second P-CSCF using a second mobile IP allocated from a wireless packet network upon booting if the signal intensity of the wireless LAN becomes weaker than a reference value. The CSCF sends a VoIP call to the second P-CSCF if the user terminal performs the second registration procedure and the user terminal then receives an incoming VoIP call.

  • Patent number: 8908561
Abstract: A system and method for executing network acquisition employ a triggered scan for network acquisition regardless of the recorded optimal nature of the current network. In general, when one or more predefined conditions occur, a network scan is initiated to identify another network, if any, that is more optimal than the current network. Example trigger conditions include failed registration attempts, exceeding a predetermined distance threshold, entry to or exit from a pre-determined region, excess CDMA Chip delay, and others. Triggers may be used singly or in Boolean combinations. In this way, network scanning occurs when it may be beneficial, but will not be initiated too frequently or in situations where connectivity may not actually be suboptimal. This triggered scan provides improved connectivity, and can allow the device to make and receive calls in locations where it would otherwise not have been possible.

  • Patent number: 8897274
Abstract: A receiver receives a desired radio sub-channel transmitted with an unwanted radio sub-channel by producing signal branches from a received radio signal by treating orthogonal components of the received signal separately and also by using one or both of oversampling and multiple receive antennas. Channel estimates for both the desired and unwanted radio sub-channels are produced for signal branches. The unwanted radio sub-channel bits are estimated from a non-stacked form of the received radio signal. The channel estimates and the estimate of the unwanted radio sub-channel bits are used to reconstruct unwanted radio sub-channel components separately for signal branches. Desired radio sub-channel signal branches are produced by subtracting a corresponding one of the reconstructed unwanted radio sub-channel components from signal branches. A non-stacked desired signal is produced by combining the desired radio sub-channel signal branches.

  • Patent number: 8891554
Abstract: A method for data transmission in an automation system from a second field device via a first field device to a receiver, wherein, at the first field device, a first data subframe is created, a second data frame is received from the second field device, and a first data frame including the first and the second data subframe is sent correctly-timed by Dynamic Frame Packing to the receiver. In the event the second data subframe is unable to be appended directly to the first data subframe at the latest after the correctly-timed sending of the first data subframe, the sending of the first data frame is shifted by a time value, where the time value is calculated so that immediately after the sending of the first data subframe, the second data subframe is able to be appended directly to the first data subframe.

  • Patent number: 8879531
Abstract: The present invention is to provide a mobile router, which can connect with a network transmission device capable of wired or wireless networking (e.g., a modem provided by a network service provider, a wireless LAN access point, or a mobile communication access point) in a corresponding one of at least three network connection modes based on a wired Ethernet, a wireless Local Area Network and a wireless Wide Area Network, so as to transmit a network packet from a terminal device (e.g., a desktop computer, a laptop computer, or a mobile phone) to the Internet or vice versa through the network transmission device. The mobile router can automatically detect an applicable network connection mode and automatically apply network connection settings stored in a corresponding profile. If no such corresponding profile exists, the mobile router can automatically store the network connection settings manually input by the user as a profile.

  • Patent number: 8879394
Abstract: A method to provide load balancing and routing for a plurality of end systems in a network. The network contains a load balancer (LB) and the method comprises receiving a request packet with Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) addresses specified. A destination address is associated with a set of target end systems and presence of a nonce information indicates the requesting correspondent node is Identifier Locator Network Protocol (ILNP) capable. The method further comprises directing the request packet to a specific end system from the set of target end systems that share a load balanced address, wherein each target end system has a unique direct path locator prefix. The method also comprises overwriting a common IPv6 locator prefix with the unique direct path locator prefix, forwarding the request packet to the specific end system, and notifying a requesting correspondent node the direct path locator prefix for the specific end system.

  • Patent number: 8855036
Abstract: A digital distributed antenna system (DDAS) that regains the capability to perform simulcast to multiple simulcast groups while using a base station's direct digital output is provided. The User Plane data is adapted for simulcast and also for eliminating time delay ambiguities across multiple simulcast digital radios. In addition, the Control and Management Plane is aggregated across multiple remote units to allow a non-modified donor digital base station to control simulcast groups. The result is a low cost digital DAS that can efficiently distribute the capacity of a digital base station to solve coverage and capacity requirements in a manner similar to that now accomplished using a traditional base station with RF in/out.

  • Patent number: 8842525
Abstract: The present document describes a system and method for extending a wireless communication coverage area of a cellular wireless base station transceiver (BTS) to enable control signaling and identification of mobile stations not currently within a coverage area of an existing beamform antenna pattern of the BTS, for example. A cellular BTS may scan through dead zones of coverage areas provided by the BTS to identify mobile stations not within the coverage area of the BTS, but within a possible service area of the BTS. In addition, the BTS may receive a relaying control signal from a mobile station located within the coverage area of the BTS, and the signal will indicate a location of another mobile station not within the coverage area of the BTS but within the service area of the BTS. In either example, the BTS may attempt to provide a coverage area to the mobile station located in the control signaling dead zone, for example.

  • Patent number: 8838811
Abstract: A peer-to-peer communication system in which a peer communicating with a tracker node on a local torrent can locate and download files that are not currently available from other peers communicating on the local torrent. To enable this, the tracker node maintains collaboration information for a list of files. The collaboration information includes, for each file, a list of locations at which a full copy of the file may be located. The list of locations may include active peers, dormant peers and remote tracker nodes. The collaboration information may be obtained from each peer when it joins a local torrent. Upon joining the torrent, the peer may provide the local tracker node with a list of files that it is willing to serve.

  • Patent number: 8838821
Abstract: Including support for advanced protocols in propagation information transferred between applications. Transaction managers associated with the applications communicate with each other to complete a transaction. Rather than communicating using a standard protocol, embodiments of the invention enable a first transaction manager to identify advanced protocols supported by the first transaction manager to a second transaction manager using existing propagation tokens. • Patent number: 8838774
Abstract: Disclosed are a method, system, and computer program product for determining a common factor contributing to network activity with reduced computational resource utilization. In some embodiments of the present invention, the method or the system determines one or more factors by examining one or more information transmitted across the network. The method or the system stores a number of information attributable to each of the factors and determines whether the number exceeds a threshold requirement. Where the number for a factor exceeds the threshold requirement, the method or the system then determines a summary statistic for the number of information. Thereafter, the method or the System updates the data structure corresponding to the factor being analyzed based upon the summary statistic. Once the data structure is updated based upon the summary statistic, the method or the system determine one or more common factors for the network activities.
