Abstract: A social media platform provides a map-based graphical user interface (GUI) with multiple geographically anchored icons that are selectable to trigger playback of respective galleries of ephemeral messages. Each of the plurality of location-based ephemeral galleries comprises media content contributed by multiple different users. The ephemeral galleries are compiled based on geotag data associated with respective ephemeral messages submitted by multiple users to be publicly viewable via the map-based GUI. Two or more different types of galleries are represented in the map-based GUI by different, visually distinct types of gallery icon.

Abstract: A system according to various exemplary embodiments includes a processor and a user interface, communication module, and memory coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the system to: retrieve a digital image from a server using the communication module; present the digital image on a display of the user interface; receive edits to the digital image via the user interface; generate, based on the edits, a modified digital image, wherein generating the modified digital image includes transforming a format of the digital image to include a field containing an identifier associated with the modified digital image; and transmit the modified digital image to the server using the communication module.

A controller causes a display to display a drag button and a movement path on which the drag button moves. Additionally, the controller provides, on a touch sensor, a drag area for detecting a drag input on the drag button and a reference point disposed at a location off the movement path. Moreover, the controller is configured to set the drag area larger than the display range of the movement path, move the drag button to a crossing point where a straight line or specific curve connecting the reference point to a drag operation position in the drag area crosses the movement path, and change the temperature setting value to the value corresponding to the position of the drag button.

The method includes generating an agenda associated with the user, the agenda comprising an agenda item having an associated time period, and detecting a flick gesture on the user actuatable list element on the to-do list user interface, and adding, based on the detected flick gesture, an agenda item to the agenda associated with the user, the added agenda item corresponding to the particular entry on the to-do list.

Abstract: A method of operating a first data processing system having a screen for responding to a vector gesture performed on that screen is disclosed. The method includes estimating a direction and assuming an identity for the vector gesture prior to the vector gesture being completed. A command that depends on the estimated direction and assumed identity is executed, the command being a command that would be required to update a current state of the first data processing system if the assumed identity of the vector gesture is correct. The command is executed prior to the vector gesture being completed. The current state of the first data processing system is then updated based on the data generated by the command. After the vector gesture has been determined to have been completed, the first data processing system is updated to a state indicated by the completed vector gesture.

Abstract: System, method, and computer product embodiments for controlling a display device's display settings from a computing device's touch-based user interface are described. In an embodiment, the computing device establishes a wireless connectivity with the display device. The computing device sends a command generated to query information related to the display setting. Then, the computing device receives the queried information from the display device. The computing device configures a graphical user interface (GUI) with the queried information to display configurations of the display settings on the touchscreen. The configurations include the display settings currently configured in the display device. The computing device further enables, within GUI, a displayed configuration from the display configurations to be calibrated by one or more touch gestures on the touchscreen.

Abstract: A system and method for using augmented reality for assisting speech development of multiple languages includes analyzing speech recorded in an environment to detect a word used in a conversation between a first speaker and a second speaker that is in a language different from other words in the conversation, wherein a target user is in the environment with the first speaker and the second speaker, isolating an object associated with the word within an augmented reality environment of the target user located in the environment, determining a confusion level of the target user based on a use of the word in the conversation, and implementing, by the processor, an augmented reality technique based on the confusion level of the target user.

Abstract: A method to share map information between an electronic device and other nearby devices using peer-to-peer communication is provided. The method receives identification of different map items such as a route, points of interest, search results, a current map view and sends to a selected nearby device. The method provides different options to select the map items to share. The particular map information to share in some embodiments depends on what is currently displayed and/or selected on the map. When there are several items that can be shared and there is not a clear indication for what the user intends to share, an action list is shown to allow the user to select the information to share. Once a map item to share is selected, the method displays a share list to display a list of nearby devices. The method sends the shared information to selected devices.
