Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel includes n-number of gate lines, (m+1)-number of data lines and (m×n)-number of pixels, wherein the ‘n’ and ‘m’ are natural numbers. The gate lines are extended in a first direction. The data lines are extended in a second direction that is substantially perpendicular to the first direction. The first and last data lines are electrically connected to each other. The pixels are arranged in a matrix shape. M-number of the pixels is arranged along the first direction, and n-number of the pixels is arranged along the second direction. A pixel electrode of the pixels arranged in the second direction are electrically connected to left and right data lines alternately to enhance a display quality and reduce power consumption.

  • Patent number: 8350785
Abstract: In the case of reducing an effect of variations in current characteristics of transistors by inputting a signal current to a transistor in a pixel, a potential of a wiring is detected by using a precharge circuit. In the case where there is a difference between a predetermined potential and the potential of the wiring, a charge is supplied to the wiring to perform a precharge by charging rapidly. When the potential of the wiring reaches the predetermined potential, the supply of charge is stopped and a signal current only is supplied. Thus, a precharge is performed only in a period until the potential of the wiring reaches the predetermined potential, therefore, a precharge can be performed for an optimal period.

  • Patent number: 8305370
Abstract: A display driven by a data signal and a light emission signal may be controlled by a control system including a first through fourth controller. The first controller may select a gamma value in accordance with ambient illumination and output a corresponding gamma compensation signal to control a gradation voltage of input image data. The second controller may compare the ambient illumination with a reference value, generate a selection signal in response thereto, and provide changed image data obtained by changing input image data in accordance with the selection signal as the data signal. The third controller may apply a scaling factor to the input image data generated from extracted features related to the input image data and a scale ratio obtained from the extracted features, and output scaled image data as the data signal. The fourth controller may control a pulse width of the emission control signal.

  • Patent number: 8305343
Abstract: In one embodiment, a computer pointing device is provided with a navigation module, an electronic control system, and a motion-driven electromagnetic induction module. The electronic control system serves to activate and deactivate the navigation module. At times, the control system enters a sleep mode and deactivates the navigation module. In response to movement of the computer pointing device, the motion-driven electromagnetic induction module generates an output signal that wakes the control system and activates the navigation module. In another embodiment, a computer pointing device is provided with a housing, a battery, and a motion-driven electromagnetic induction module. The electromagnetic induction module is coupled to the battery, is enclosed within the housing, and is unconnected to any externally manipulable portion of the computer pointing device. Movement of the computer pointing device causes the electromagnetic induction module to charge the battery.

  • Patent number: 8294685
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for recognizing multiple input point gestures. A recognition module receives an ordered set of points indicating that contacts have been detected in a specified order at multiple different locations on a multi-touch input surface. The recognition module determines the position of subsequently detected locations (e.g., third detected location) relative to (e.g., to the left of right of) line segments connecting previously detected locations (e.g., connecting first and second detected locations). The gesture module also detects whether line segments connecting subsequently detected locations (e.g., connecting third and fourth detected locations) intersect line segments connecting previously detected locations (e.g., connecting first and second detected locations). The gesture module recognizes an input gesture based on the relative positions and whether or not line segments intersect.

  • Patent number: 8248393
Abstract: A color display device, a drive circuit for a color display device, a method, a signal and a computer-readable medium for reducing electro-optical cross talk that occurs in a display that is operated in Spectrum Sequential mode is disclosed. The invention eliminates annoying visible artifacts, such as contouring, noise, or color deviation, which normally are introduced by this cross talk by compensating for the cross talk. According to embodiments of the invention, a drive signal (R?,G?,B?) to drive picture elements of the display is altered in video processing circuitry (MPC, XTC, SC) and/or software, in dependence on one or more properties of different spectra from a light source (23, 24) in the display. The invention is implemented with little extra effort and cost in known LCD displays.
