  • Patent number: 9223768
Abstract: The file size of a binder document in a document management server that manages a version of a binder document is reduced. When updating a binder document, it is determined whether an original document included in the binder document of a past version includes a same document as an original document included in the binder document of a new version. If it is determined that the original document includes the same document, reference information regarding the same document in the binder document of the past version is stored as information corresponding to the original document of the new version. On the other hand, if it is determined that the original document does not include the same document, an entity file of the original document is stored as information corresponding to the original document of the new version.

  • Patent number: 9189436
Abstract: Some embodiments of the inventive subject matter are directed to detecting a request, from an application for a first instance of an operating system (OS) running a first version of the OS, to access a symbol via a special file that accesses kernel memory directly. A second instance of the OS, which manages the first OS, receives the request. The second instance of the OS runs a second version of the OS and includes a kernel shared between the first and second instances of the OS. Some embodiments are further directed to detecting data associated with the symbol, where the data is in a first data format that is compatible with the second version of the OS but incompatible with the first version of the OS and reformatting the data from the first data format to a second data format compatible with the second version of the OS.

  • Patent number: 9158781
Abstract: A method to create a version map to represent the data state of a file at a particular point in time when an incremental backup is performed. In one embodiment, a logical memory backup file is created that is known as a cumulative data file. Changes to the cumulative data file according to one embodiment of the present invention include appending copies of modified data when the modified data meets a certain condition. A new version map may be created each time an incremental backup occurs. Locations of both modified and unmodified data in the backup data file are mapped for future reference to the data.

  • Patent number: 9047346
Abstract: Architecture that translates a complex dimensional hierarchy (e.g., XBRL) into an understandable member picker which removes the complexities that the user would otherwise have to face. Using a building block metaphor, the architecture provides element and dimension tagging. The building blocks can include rows, columns, and optional trees. Building blocks are selected and grouped into a report definition, which definition is utilized to retrieve and process basis data into fact data in the final reports. The reporter mechanism removes the complexities in both the XBRL standard and XML, and ensures that the user associates the information appropriately within the report definition. The architecture extends the building block metaphor to include dimension tagging. A portion of the information from each building block is used to produce a fully qualified dimension context and logical validation is performed to ensure accuracy.

  • Patent number: 9015129
Abstract: Systems and methods for restoring file system objects from image level backups of servers. The method receives a selection of an image level backup of a source, file system object(s) to be restored, and restoration parameters identifying a destination. The method initializes and attaches a virtual storage to a virtual appliance and an associated hypervisor. The method stores virtual storage data changes resulting from the file system object restoration in changes storage. The method preserves file system object information, wherein the file system object information corresponds to the source operating system (OS) and file system. The method preserves file system object information such as permissions and ownership through business logic that ensures that the file system object information for restored file system object(s) on the destination match file system object information from the source, even when the method operates on a host running a different OS than the source server.
