  • Patent number: 9461458
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a method of distance protection of parallel transmission lines applicable both to series compensated and uncompensated electric power lines, using a distance relay. The method is characterized in that a pair of flags (ff1, ff2) are calculated for indication faulted and healthy circuits in parallel lines and in the same time a flag (Internal_Fault) for indication internal or external fault in parallel lines is calculated independently. Next gathering all calculated flags (ff1, ff2, Internal_Fault) an analyze of the value of these flags are performed and depending on the values of flags (ff1, ff2, Internal_Fault) and on their reciprocal relationship, a trip permission signal from the protection relay (4) is released and sent to the alarms devices or to the line breakers, or a block signal from the protection relay (4) is generated and sent to protect parallel lines before damage.

  • Patent number: 9459603
Abstract: An apparatus for providing an illusion of occupancy is provided. The apparatus includes a prime mover having a shaft configured to receive an actuator, an actuator configured to interface the prime mover to an illusion target, and a microcontroller having a memory operatively coupled to selectably operate the prime mover. The microcontroller is configured with a first value representing an average time between a plurality of first movements of the prime mover, a second value representing an average time between the first movement and a second movement of the prime mover, and a third value representing a quantity of random variability to be applied to the first value and the second value. The microcontroller is further configured to operate the prime mover in accordance with the first value, the second value, and the third value, thereby manipulating the illusion target and providing the illusion of occupancy.

  • Patent number: 9418179
Abstract: A system and method is provided for evaluating the transient cooling performance of a data center. In one version, the method includes receiving input data from a storage device, the input data including data center architecture information and operating data, performing transient cooling performance calculations for the data center using the input data, and displaying results of the transient cooling performance calculations, wherein the results include at least one of a cooling runtime and a maximum predicted temperature of the data center following a power outage of the data center.

  • Patent number: 9410752
Abstract: Controlling heating and cooling in a conditioned space utilizes a fluid circulating in a thermally conductive structure in fluid connection with a hydronic-to-air heat exchanger and a ground heat exchanger. Air is moved past the hydronic-to-air heat exchanger, the air having fresh air supply and stale air exhaust. Sensors located throughout the conditioned space send data to a controller. User input to the controller sets the desired set point temperature and humidity. Based upon the set point temperature and humidity and sensor data, the controller sends signals to various devices to manipulate the flow of the fluid and the air in order to achieve the desired set point temperature and humidity in the conditioned space. The temperature of the fluid is kept less than the dew point at the hydronic-to-air heat exchanger and the temperature of the fluid is kept greater than the dew point at the thermally conductive structure.

  • Patent number: 9375878
Abstract: A method for operating an installation for handling containers, wherein the containers from a first handling unit of the installation are handled by predetermined first handling parameters and the containers from a second handling unit of the installation are handled by predetermined second handling parameters, and wherein the first handling parameters and the second handling parameters can be altered, at least in part, and depend, at least in part, on product parameters which are characteristic of the container. Product parameters of the container which are stored for controlling the first handling unit are also used for controlling the second handling unit, wherein alterations to the product parameters are taken into account in automated fashion both for controlling the first handling unit and for controlling the second handling unit.
