Abstract: A reliable reputation management system in which the users of the services vote for reputation. The votes are collected to a reputation server which computes reputation for specific services. When a large group of users have voted, the result will be reliable. The reputation server is independent in order to guarantee objective reputation management. If the user does not vote but keeps using the service, the system will compute a vote by itself. The user may change the vote later.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and data transfer arrangement for executing consecutive instructions in a client device (21) in a mobile user application—device management server—client device environment (23, 22, 21). The invention also relates to an instruction execution module utilized in the implementation of the method. In the procedure according to the invention, the user application (23) forms the instructions to be executed in the client device (21) into an instruction sequence (200), which is transmitted to the device management server (22) controlling the client device (21). The instruction execution module in the device management server breaks up the instruction sequence into command sequences and control structures. The command sequences are executed in the client device (21). The conditional commands belonging to the instruction sequence, specified by the control structures, are executed by the instruction execution module individually, without the help of the user application.

Abstract: A first user of a collaboration application having IM contact information for target users can set up an IM session through the collaboration application that makes of the first user's preferred IM client. The collaboration application responds to the first user's request for an IM session by generating in IM session request that contains IM contact information for both users. The IM session request is forwarded to the IM server associated with the first user's preferred IM client. The IM server sends a session setup request to the first user. The session setup request identifies the second user as the originator of the request. When the first user responds to the message ostensibly sent by the second user, the message is forwarded to the second user to complete the session setup process. In an alternate embodiment, the server sends the request to the IM server for the second user.

Abstract: A flexible mechanism for routers to select the egress point for each destination prefix, herein referred to as tunable inter-domain egress (TIE) selection, comprises the step of ranking possible points of egress according to a metric, allowing network administrators to satisfy diverse goals, such as traffic engineering and robustness to equipment failures. A weighting function is discussed whereby known hot potato routing can be weighted against a fixed ranking scheme. TIE has been applied to data of two different autonomous systems posing different problems solved using integer-programming and multi-commodity flow techniques, respectively, to tune the TIE according to the weighting function to satisfy network-wide objectives. Experiments with traffic, topology and routing data from two different backbone networks demonstrate that TIE is both simple (for the routers) and expressive (for the network administrators) and can be practically applied in traffic engineering.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention may include network devices, systems, and methods, including executable instructions and/or logic, for remote client remediation. One method includes identifying a client needing remediation, tunnel-encapsulating packets originating from the client during remediation, and forwarding the tunnel-encapsulated packets to a remote remediation functionality different from an original destination address of the packets and having membership in a remediation VLAN different from the original VLAN.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, articles, and systems for instantiating a control service to facilitate management of a remotely disposed platform supporting a plurality of redirection protocols of media devices of different types for redirecting the media devices, are described herein. In various embodiments, the control service is adapted to establish a control session with the remotely disposed platform and discover the supported redirection protocols of the media devices. In some embodiments, the control service is further adapted to control the remotely disposed platform based on the redirection protocols, to cause the remotely disposed platform to establish a data session with a media server, remotely disposed from the platform, having one or more of the media devices of different types, the data session including a number of redirection connections redirecting the media devices of the media server to the platform. Additionally, in one embodiment, the control service is adapted to manage the platform.

Abstract: A method for providing access to one or more notification-based Web services using a mobile device, the method comprising the steps of transmitting to Web service proxy a subscription request for a requested Web service, the Web service proxy supporting asynchronous communication with the mobile device, storing a device identification and subscription request at the proxy, the proxy polling the Web service with the request, receiving at the proxy a response message determined by the Web service and in response to the polled request, continuing to poll the Web service and transmitting the response message to the mobile device only when the response message satisfies a predetermined criteria.

Abstract: In one aspect, a data processing device which comprises an application for use in an ad-hoc network whereby the application is provided with a data interface to a central service for the processing of the first data is provided. A proxy instance is connected to the application via a first data connection for the exchange of the first data, while the proxy instance is connected to a plurality of additional data processing devices via the ad-hoc network for the exchange of second data. The proxy instance is adapted to generate the first data from the second data and to generate the second data from the first data, the exchange of the first data between the application and the proxy instance being carried out via the data interface.
