Abstract: Disclosed are an artificial breast implant in which the surface thereof is formed or modified with a silicone open cell (open pore) foam layer, and a method for producing the same. More specifically, disclosed are an artificial breast implant that has a surface including an open cell foam layer made of silicone and thus minimizes side effects such as in vivo rejection, which may occur after implantation of the implant into the body, in particular, the occurrence of capsular contracture to achieve superior biocompatibility and safety, and a method for producing the same.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an electrode for energy storage devices and a method for making the electrode for energy storage devices is disclosed, where a flexible binder in the electrode formulation is activated by certain additives and is uniformly deposited on to the active and conductive particles by high speed mixing. The particles deposited with activated binder particles are then pressed together to form free standing electrode film. High performance and cost effective products, such as free standing electrode films, laminated electrodes, ultracapacitors, lithium ion capacitors, batteries, fuel cells and hybrid cells which are the combination of the above devices, and the energy storage system or the system blocks, such as modules, can be manufactured using this process.
Abstract: A labelling machine with a carrousel comprises a carrousel (3) and a plurality of plates (4), mounted on the carrousel (3). Each plate (4) comprises supporting means (13) and a dragging element (14), comprising a tooth (15) substantially insertable in a recess made in the bottom of the container supported by the supporting means (13). The tooth (15) is off-centre relative to the first axis of rotation and movable relative to the supporting means (13) between an engaged position, in which the tooth (15) is substantially inserted in the recess, and a disengaged position, in which the tooth (15) is not associated with the recess.
Abstract: The objective is to propose a production method of multiple panes which can be simple and nevertheless produce a multiple pane in its finished state which does not include any undesired protrusion from an external surface of a glass panel. The production method includes: hermetically bonding, with a sealing member, peripheries of paired glass panels disposed facing each other at a predetermined distance to form a space to be hermetically enclosed between the glass panels; evacuating air from the space through an outlet to make the space be in a reduced pressure state; subsequently dividing the space by a region forming member disposed inside the space to form a partial region which do not include the outlet; and subsequently cutting out the partial regions by cutting the pair of glass panels.
Abstract: The invention describes a device and method for making corrugated products. The device can be used with any substrate and includes, at least, first and second drive rollers for driving a middle substrate and a single wall corrugated product. In other embodiments the invention includes upper drive rollers, lower drive rollers and middle drive rollers for driving an upper substrate, a lower substrate and a middle substrate. The middle substrate is driven between the upper and lower substrates at a higher velocity to form flutes that are anchored between the upper an lower substrates thereby forming a corrugated product. The invention also provides for customized corrugated products having multiple fluted substrates in various desirable arrangements. Examples of such products include mattress, partition panels, other furniture and construction products.

Abstract: The invention is a kit to produce a logo or picture on the bottom of an aquarium through the use of color stones. The method begins by creating or finding the picture. Next one converts the picture into areas. Each area has only one distinct color. The third step is to form an outline that encloses each of the areas. The next step is to transfer the outline from the logo to the surface. This surface can be the bottom of an aquarium or a separate surface. The fifth step is to form partitions on the outline on the surface. The partitions must be sufficiently deep to hold a least one layer of stones or sand. The last step is to place colored stones or colored sand within the partitions.
Abstract: System including a stamping device configured to apply stamps to first and second products having target surfaces. The stamping device applies the stamps when the target surfaces are moved into a stamp-application region. The system also includes a first transporter device having a receiving side. The first transporter device is configured to hold the first products such that the target surfaces of the first products are exposed along the receiving side. The system also includes a second transporter device having a receiving side. The second transporter device is configured to hold the second products such that the target surfaces of the second products are exposed along the receiving side of the second transporter device. The first and second transporter devices are configured to hold the respective first and second products such that the target surfaces of the first and second products face in a generally common direction.
Abstract: Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to vacuum insulating glass (VIG) units having improved seals made using two different frit-based edge seal materials, and/or methods of making the same. In certain example embodiments, a first frit material is applied around peripheral edges of first and second glass substrates. The first frit material, which may be bismuth-based in certain example embodiments, is fired with a heat treatment (e.g., thermal tempering) process. A second frit material, which may be VBZ-based in certain example embodiments, is applied and at least partially overlaps with the fired first frit material. The first frit material acts as a primer, and the second frit material helps seal together the VIG unit. The second frit material is fired at a significantly lower temperature that enables the glass to retain the temper or other strength imparted by the heat treatment.

Abstract: A method of making a one-way gas release valve for releasing gas pressure from within a coffee container comprises pre-oiling a relatively narrow dry strap of flexible material and laminating the pre-oiled dry strap between relatively wide ribbons of base and cover material with the dry strap overlying spaced vent patterns in the base material. Alternatively, the base material may be pre-oiled or both the base material and the dry strap may be pre-oiled. The dry strap and base may be made of PET and the cover may be made of mPET. Gas release valves are then die cut from the resulting web with each valve containing a vent pattern. Pre-oiling of the dry strap and/or the base can be accomplished through a roll metered process to insure that the oil is applied in precise amounts and with consistent thickness and coverage.

Abstract: A method for producing clad duct from a laminate is disclosed. The laminate is a sheet of thermoplastic material bonded to an insulative foam board. V-shaped grooves are formed in the foam board, opposite the sheet. The sheet is heated in the vicinity of one of the grooves, until pliable. The sheet is then bent, where it has become pliable, to close the groove. The heated and bent sheet is then cooled until it is no longer pliable and retains its bent shape. The heating, bending, and cooling steps are repeated for the other grooves until edges of the laminate are brought together. The edges are then sealed.
