  • Patent number: 9525732
Abstract: Social networking is used to enhance content delivery to mobile devices. Sometimes a mobile device lacks network connectivity, such as when the mobile device is off or offline. Content cannot be sent to the mobile device when lacking network connectivity. A social network, however, may be retrieved for interim storage of the content. When the mobile device lacks network connectivity, the content may be routed to a member device of the social network. The member device stores the content until the mobile device resumes network connectivity. The member device may then send or forward the content to the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9504019
Abstract: According to the invention data in a number of logical downlink intended for one or more mobile terminals are received in a first mapping unit, where at least a first High Speed Radio Network Temporary identity is allocated to these logical downlink channels addressing a group of mobile terminals for allowing transmission of channel data for reception by mobile terminals. A mobile terminal then reads, from a Broadcast Control Channel, necessary information including a High Speed Radio Network Temporary identity allocated to at least one logical downlink channel, where at least said first identity exists among possible identities. It then listens to a high speed shared control channel for the read identity. In case it detects the identity, the terminal follows a scheduling command, receives data on a high-speed downlink shared channel and processes said data.

  • Patent number: 9485674
Abstract: A method of providing rate adaptation in a multi-user wireless communication system including single-user beamforming (SU-BF) and multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) is described. In this method, a master rate, which is a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) for the SU-BF, is determined. An MCS for each transmit mode is derived from the master rate using a rate mapping. Using the results from the mapping, the master rate, instead of the MCS for each transmit mode, is tracked. In one embodiment, a mapping calibration is periodically performed.

  • Patent number: 9467326
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method and network device for a rate limiting mechanism based on device load/capacity or traffic content. Specifically, the system receives a request from a network node, and determines whether a ratio between a current load and a capacity exceeds a threshold. If so, the system determines a wait time period based on current load/capacity ratio, and responds to the network node with a message including the wait time period. Moreover, the system can inspect content of the request to determine a message type, and whether the message type indicates that the request is associated with dependent messages. If so, the system responds to the request with a busy message including the wait time period. Further, the system rejects new session requests if the number of concurrent sessions currently connected to the network device approaches the number of sessions associated with a regression point.

  • Patent number: 9455841
Abstract: A method of controlling Group establishment for an IP multimedia communication service facilitated over a communications network, wherein an established Group comprises a set of member Users each of which possesses a User Equipment and, at Group establishment, members' User Equipments are sent an invitation to join the group by a server of said communications network. The method comprises, within said communications network, defining for each of a set of Users of said service, a Group membership policy defining Groups that the User does or does not wish to join. Prior to Group establishment, for each User selected for possible inclusion in the Group, the Group membership policy for that User is used to determine whether or not the User may wish to be included. Invitations are sent only to those users for which it is determined that they may wish to be included in the Group.

  • Patent number: 9455915
Abstract: Hierarchical congestion identification and control hardware supports multi-level congestion control at flow, tenant and virtual machine (VM) levels. Hardware implementation expedites response to congestion notifications and frees-up processor bandwidth. A hierarchy of transmit shapers in a transmit ring scheduler isolate rate adjustments for flows, tenants and VMs. The hierarchy of shapers provide a hierarchy of congestion control nodes to control flows and aggregate flows. Hardware quickly associates congested flows with shapers before or after receiving a congestion notification. The associations may be used by any flow control algorithm to selectively rate-control shapers to control flow rates. Shaper associations and configured states, scheduler configuration, congestion states, thresholds and other flow information may be stored and monitored to filter data flows that need attention and to raise alerts at flow, tenant and VM levels.

  • Patent number: 9456089
Abstract: In addition to the transmission of a tone signal (ts) according to the RFC standard 2833 via a network using Internet protocol, the tone signal is transmitted in the data packets (dp). Subsequently, the phase difference (??) between the transmitted tone signal (ts) and the generated tone signal (ts?) is ascertained, before beginning the insertion of the generated tone signal (ts?) in the data packets (dp), and compared to a predetermined phase difference (??). If the ascertained phase difference exceeds the predetermined phase difference (??,??), the phase of the generated tone signal (ts?) is changed by a predetermined phase (?) with the aid of the tone generator (TG).

  • Patent number: 9432150
Abstract: With the proliferation of Machine-Type Communication (MTC), an excessive use of device trigger messages in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network can have negative effects on user equipment (UE). These effect can include a shortening of UE battery life and/or excessive signalling caused by the frequent changing from an idle mode to an active mode. An MTC Interworking Function (MTC-IWF) can be configured to determine the status of a UE to which a device trigger message is intended. If the device trigger message is low priority and the UE is in an idle state, the MTC-IWF or Mobile Management Entity (MME)/Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN)/Mobile Switching Center (MSC) can buffer the device trigger message.
