Patent number: 9989490Abstract: A diagnostic Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) procedure is applied to measure values of impedance-related parameters for one or more sensing electrodes. The parameters may include real impedance, imaginary impedance, impedance magnitude, and/or phase angle. The measured values of the impedance-related parameters are then used in performing sensor diagnostics, calculating a highly-reliable fused sensor glucose value based on signals from a plurality of redundant sensing electrodes, calibrating sensors, detecting interferents within close proximity of one or more sensing electrodes, and testing surface area characteristics of electroplated electrodes. Advantageously, impedance-related parameters can be defined that are substantially glucose-independent over specific ranges of frequencies. An Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) enables implementation of the EIS-based diagnostics, fusion algorithms, and other processes based on measurement of EIS-based parameters.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2017Date of Patent: June 5, 2018Assignee: MEDTRONIC MINIMED, INC.Inventors: Ning Yang, Raghavendhar Gautham, Bradley C. Patent number: 9989560Abstract: A system is disclosed for detecting and calculating the level of ambient and/or environmental noise, such as electromagnetic interference generated by electric power lines, ambient lights, light dimmers, television or computer displays, power supplies or transformers, and medical equipment. In some embodiments, the system performs frequency analysis on the interference signal detected by light photodetectors and determines the power of the interference signal concentrated in the analyzed frequency bands. The worst-case interference level can be determined by selecting the maximum from the computed power values. In some embodiments, the determined interference signal power can be compared with the noise tolerance of a patient monitoring system configured to reliably and noninvasively detect physiological parameters of a user. The results of the comparison can be presented to the user audio-visually. In some embodiments, the system can be used to perform spot check measurements of electromagnetic interference.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2014Date of Patent: June 5, 2018Assignee: MASIMO CORPORATIONInventors: Jeroen Poeze, Jesse Chen, Mathew Paul, Marcelo Lamego, Massi Joe E. Patent number: 9983270Abstract: The state of charge (SOC) estimation device includes a memory and a controller component. The memory stores data on a first correlation between an elapsed time and an estimation error in SOC estimation. The controller component executes a first estimation process and a second estimation process. The first estimation process is for estimating a first SOC and a first estimation error of the electric storage device in a non-charge/discharge state based on a terminal voltage and the elapsed time. The second estimation process is for estimating a second SOC and a second estimation error of the electric storage device in a charge/discharge state based on an accumulated charge/discharge current.
