Abstract: A developer material comprising toner particles and coated carrier beads for use in developing images in an electrostatographic device is disclosed. The toner particles are initially classified according to a size distribution wherein less than 15% by weight are greater than 16 microns, between 7 and 15% by weight are less than 5 microns, the remainder being from 5 to 16 microns; and wherein the median particle size by weight is from 8 to 12 microns.The carrier beads have a core with a coating thereon. The coating is a mixed resin system comprising 5 to 55% by weight polytetrafluoroethylene, 5 to 55% by weight fluorinated polyethylene-propylene, and 40% to 80% by weight of a poly(amide-imide) resin which is stable up to at least 600.degree. F., triboelectrically negative (with respect to the herein described toner), nonspalling, essentially nonfriable and dispersible with the other resin components. Also, preferably the coating includes a pigment, such as TiO.sub.2, dispersed in the resin system.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transferring and fixing toner image wherein a toner image is transferred and fixed onto a transfer material from a toner image retainer through an intermediate transfer member. The toner image on the intermediate transfer member is heated at a temperature lower than the toner fusion temperature, and the transfer material is heated to the toner fusion temperature or over. A pressing unit to press the transfer material onto the intermediate transfer member is heated at the toner fusion temperature or over.
Abstract: A two-component type dry developer for use in dichromatic electrophotography comprising two kinds of developers, said developers each consisting of a toner and a carrier therefor and adapted for the production of a dichromatic image by developing a both positively and negatively electrified electrostatic latent image successively with toners different in polarity and color from each other, wherein one carrier has a triboelectrification property of being electrified positively by friction with either of two toners while the other carrier has a triboelectrification property of being electrified negatively by friction with either of two toners.
Abstract: An electrophotographic photosensitive material having a long lifetime can be provided by forming an amorphous silicon layer having a thickness of 0.01-0.08 .mu.m on the photoconductive layer on the electrically conductive substrate in the said material without changing the characteristics of the photoconductive layer.
Abstract: An electrophotographic recording medium which consists essentially of an electrically conductive base and a photosemiconductive double layer which comprises a first layer containing charge carrier-producing dyes, and a second layer containing one or more compounds which are charge carrier-transporting when exposed to light, wherein the charge carrier-producing dyes are those of the formula I ##STR1## or of the formula II ##STR2## where R.sup.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, aralkyl, alkyl or alkylaryl, and Z may be a a fused aromatic system, and the degree to which the aromatic skeleton is halogen-substituted is from 45 to 75% of the maximum possible, and a process for the production of this electrophotographic recording medium.

Abstract: An electrophotographic photoreceptor comprises an electrically conductive substrate, a layer of charge generating material which chloroaluminium phthalocyanine and chloroaluminium monochlorophthalocyanine are evaporated in a vacuum over the electrically conductive substrate and the evaporated film of chloroaluminium phthalocyanine and chloroaluminium monochlorophthalocyanine are treated by an organic solvent selected from the group consisting tetrohydrofurane, methanol, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, .alpha.-chloronaphthalene, pyridine, a layer of charge transport material overcoated the layer of charge generating material. The electrophotographic photoreceptor and the preparation thereof is disclosed to apply for use in a laser printing machine in which a light of laser diode or light emission diode is used as a light source.

Abstract: Track and erosion resistant electrical insulating materials are disclosed comprising (a) a base insulating material comprising a polymer of ethylene and additives necessary to allow the polymer to function as electrical insulation, and (b) hydrated zinc borate as an anti-tracking and anti-erosion additive. The hydrated zinc borate functions to increase the track and erosion resistance of the electrical insulating material in concentrations of as little as 1% by weight of the entire material with its maximum effect being achieved at concentrations of about 25% by weight of the entire material.

Abstract: Electrophotographic compositions containing zinc oxide dispersed in a certain resin binder mixture and sensitized with a cyanine dye having a particular structure provide high sensitivity in the 780-840 nm wavelength range, excellent thermal stability, long dark decay time and near-white appearance. The compositions are particularly useful for non-transfer electrophotography and for electrostatic printing applications.

Abstract: This invention is directed to an improved photoresponsive device comprised of a substrate, a hole blocking layer, an optional adhesive layer, an inorganic photogenerating layer, an organic photoconductive layer sensitive to infra-red radiation, and a top coating of a hole transport layer. More specifically, the present invention is directed to an improved photoresponsive device comprised in the order stated of the following layers: (1) a conductive substrate, (2) a metal oxide hole blocking layer, (3) an adhesive layer, (4) an inorganic photogenerating layer, (5) a photoconductive composition capable of enhancing or reducing the intrinsic properties of the photogenerating layer, which composition is selected from the group consisting of organic photoconductive compositions, charge transfer complex compositions, sensitizers, or mixtures thereof, and (6) a hole transport layer.
Abstract: Novel 1,4-bis aryl-azo derivatives of 2,3-naphthalenediol in which the aryl groups are substituted with alkoxy and with sulfonamide or fluorosulfonyl groups. These compounds are useful as neutral density pigments in electrophotographic developers and have good light stability.
