The adhesive is activated in selected areas to seal the envelope.
Abstract: A ceramic substrate supports a thin or thick film electronic circuit hermetically enclosed by a vitreous glass covering sealed to the ceramic substrate by a heat fused vitreous sealing glass. The vitreous sealing glass is screened onto the vitreous glass covering in a composition comprising a binder material and a liquifier. The electronic circuit is trimmed by a laser beam directed through the vitreous glass covering as one of the final process steps after completion of those process steps which tend to affect the resistivity of the resistive element; process steps such as high temperature baking and soldering of component parts.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device includes the steps of forming a transparent electrode on a surface of a substrate, patterning the transparent electrode, coating a photosensitive layer of resin on the patterned transparent electrode, radiating ultraviolet radiation on a region of the photosensitive layer which will serve as a spacer to provide a gap between the substrate and a companion substrate to be combined therewith, radiating weak ultraviolet radiation on the photosensitive layer from the reverse side of the substrate, and developing the photosensitive layer to form the spacer and an alignment film simultaneously.
Abstract: Disclosed is a thin film circuit substrate which comprises an electrically insulating substrate, and at least one conductor layer and one protecting layer which are formed on the substrate, the insulating substrate having a surface roughness which is equal to or smaller than 0.1 .mu.Ra when measured as a center line average height. The thin film circuit substrate is suitable for use, for example, in a thermal head.
Abstract: A plasma CVD apparatus including a reaction chamber; a pair of electrodes disposed in the reaction chamber between which plasma discharge occurs; a substrate support maintained at a reference voltage; a vacuum pump for evacuating the reaction chamber; a first voltage supply for supplying a first alternating voltage to one of the electrodes; and a second voltage supply for supplying a second alternating voltage to the other of the electrodes where the second alternating voltage is out-of-phase with respect to the first alternating voltage.

Abstract: The end portions of a flexible strip (46,48,50,52) are deflected from the path (54) of an automatic end cementer (10) along which the strip (46,48,50,52) is moved into engagement with cement appliers (62,94) spaced from the path (54). The weight of the unsupported leading end portion (92) causes the end (56) of the strip (46,48) to be deflected downwardly into contact with a cement applier (62) adjustably positioned below the path (54). The trailing end portion (58) is deflected upwardly by changing the direction of the path (54) for the strip (50,52) to lift the trailing end portion (58) from the path (54) into contact with a cement applier (94) adjustably positioned above the path (54).
