Abstract: Methods and apparatus for cataloguing items such as maps and geospatial data sets store in a database information defining a geospatial region corresponding to each item and a size characteristic of the geospatial area. The database may be queried to identify items of interest by intersecting a search seed comprising one or more geospatial points lines or areas with the areas corresponding to the items. A result set containing items produced by a query may be ordered at least in part according to the size characteristics. In some embodiments the size characteristics comprise square roots of the areas of the geospatial regions.
Abstract: A system for identifying a same user of multiple communication devices is configured to perform the steps of: (a) receiving first data relating to a first device operated by a user; (b) receiving second data relating to a second device operated by a user; (c) determining that the user of the first device is the user of the second device based on identifying that the first data is substantially the same as the second data; and (d) selecting and transmitting a sponsored content to the second device for display thereon, wherein the sponsored content has a relevance to the first and second data and/or a user characteristic datum associated with the user.

Abstract: Advertisements displayed in a web page are enabled to be changed as a context of the web page changes without reloading the web page. A first set of one or more advertisements may be displayed on a web page. One or more of the displayed advertisements may be replaced with one or more alternative advertisements. Selection of the alternative advertisements is triggered based on the occurrence of one or more events that cause a change in a context of the web page. The display of the alternative advertisements is performed dynamically, without the web page needing to be reloaded. In this manner, the advertisements displayed on a web page may be changed based on the change in web page context, to provide advertisements to users that correspond to the changing context.

Abstract: A system and method for delivering targeted advertisements to consumers by inserting the targeted advertisements into a content stream. The content stream may be monitored for advertisement placement opportunities, such that the targeted advertisements may be seamlessly inserted into the content stream to replace an advertisement in the content stream. The content stream's owner and/or provider may be identified such that revenues from the targeted advertisement may be shared with the owner's and/or providers. Abstract: A method and system for verifying inventory splits is disclosed. A server retrieves from a memory a first inventory policy provided by a first content provider. Abstract: The invention provides systems and methods for collecting point-of-sale (POS) data, and then using this data to determine the effectiveness of a given promotion. Abstract: One aspect relates to a social bookmarking system that has the capability of displaying advertisements based on user input provided to the system. Advertisements displayed to the user may be determined based on one or more classifications provided by the social bookmarking system and selected by the user. Further, classification information that is created, used, or otherwise associated with the particular user may be used to determine ads displayed to that user. Another aspect relates to a system for collecting user classifications of content and using such classifications to match ads to appropriate content. In such a manner, more appropriate associations between ads and content may be made. Such classifications may be collected, for example, using a social bookmarking system. Further, advertisers may subscribe to classifications created in the social bookmarking system, allowing their advertisements to be displayed to users that perform actions with the subscribed classification.

Abstract: A process tracks user advertisement exposure. To enroll a user as a panelist, the process generates a panelist ID and sends it to the user's home router. The process receives a message from the router that includes the panelist ID and a cookie ID associated with a web application. The cookie ID identifies the application and a personal device. The process stores the correlation between the panelist ID and the cookie ID in a database. The process receives an advertisement request from the personal device that includes the cookie ID. The process selects an advertisement and sends it to the personal device. The process also stores information corresponding to the advertisement request in an advertisement log, including the cookie ID and an advertisement identifier. The programs correlate the advertisement request with the panelist ID using the cookie ID. The process generates a report of the user's online advertisement exposure.
