    Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a cationic polymer to provide stability to microcapsules in a composition, wherein the microcapsule comprises a shell encapsulating materials having an average C log P of at least 2.5 and more than 60% by weight of the encapsulated materials have a C log P of at least 3.3. The cationic polymer is derived from the polymerization of 5 to 100 mole percent of a cationic vinyl addition monomer, 0 to 95 percent acrylamide, and 5 to 500 ppm of a tetrafunctional vinyl addition monomer cross-linking agent. The cationic polymer and encapsulated material may be used, for example, in a fabric softener composition.
