Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for at least one of preventing, reducing, and treating a level of or change in at least one of amyloid-? (A?) peptide, C-terminal fragment-? (?-CTF), ?-secretase (BACE1), ?-secretase, neuroinflammation, and/or dementia (e.g., Alzheimer's disease or age-related decline) in a subject by inducing synchronized gamma oscillations in the brain of the subject using, for example, a stimulus-emitting device to emit a stimulus (e.g., light, sound, and/or haptic) at a frequency (e.g., about 40 Hz) that synchronously activates in vivo a specific cell type (e.g., fast-spiking-parvalbumin (FS-PV) immunoreactive interneurons) and/or brain region (e.g., a sensory cortex and/or hippocampus) of the subject.

  • Patent number: 10092444
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for applying radiation to a target region within a subject. An introduction element (12) like a brachytherapy catheter is inserted into the subject and a radiation source (10) is moved within the introduction element such that it is located within or close to the target region. The target region is heated, wherein the movement of the radiation source within the introduction element is controlled depending on the temperature along the introduction element. The susceptibility of the subject for the radiation emitted by the radiation source at a respective location along the length of the introduction element can depend on the temperature at the respective location such that by controlling the movement of the radiation source depending on the temperature along the length of the introduction element the application of the radiation can be optimized.

  • Patent number: 10092773
Abstract: A subject target tissue specific template device (300) that includes a block of material (302) and a plurality of apertures (310) in the material. An aperture of the plurality of apertures is located in the block of material at a location that corresponds to an area of interest identified in an image of an anatomical region of interest of a subject and transferred to an image of block of material with no aperture, which is geometrically aligned with the image of the anatomical region of interest of the subject. A method includes aligning, with a computing system, an image of anatomical tissue of interest with an image of a grid, marking at least one area of interest of tissue of interest within the image of tissue of interest, transferring the marking to the image of the grid, and saving the image of a grid with the marking as a file in an electronic format.

  • Patent number: 10076672
Abstract: A methodology in accordance with the present invention is directed toward optimizing the operational parameters of a radiation unit which will be used in a protocol to influence a target tissue (cellular structure), in a predetermined manner. Specifically, digital root techniques are used for this purpose. To do this, the digital root is determined for a number that is characteristic of a cellular structure attribute that is to be influenced by radiation. This digital root is then expanded into the range of a selected operational parameter for the radiation unit. Thus, a number in the operational range of the radiation unit is selected to establish an appropriate radiation parameter for influencing the cellular structure.

  • Patent number: 10070986
Abstract: Described are restraints, and methods of using and making the restraints, for restraining a man's testicular retraction response to sexual stimulation. It is believed that the restraints and methods of use thereby tend to slow or postpone the onset of the man's climax, with the potential to prolong the pleasure of the man and/or his sexual partner. More particularly, clip restraints and loop restraints are described and illustrated. The clip restraints are configured to grip a portion of the scrotum and to present deflection or obstruction features above the reposed positions of each of the man's testicles, configured to deflect or obstruct the movement of the testicles toward a retracted position associated with the onset of the man's sexual climax. Advantageously, clips according to the invention may fold to a narrow thickness, convenient for carrying in a pocket or wallet. Clip members of the restraints may be attracted by magnets, biased by springs, or manually adjusted to a stable gripping position.
