Patent number: 4003454Abstract: An impact shock absorber is mounted between the bumper and body of a motor car and permits the bumper to move relative to the car body when the bumper hits an obstacle. The shock absorber damps the impact energy during this relative movement. It consists essentially of a cylinder wherein a piston is glidingly mounted and held under a yielding force in a rest position. The piston is weakened at its connection to the inner end of the piston rod that the piston will break off the rod under a selected maximum impact force.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1975Date of Patent: January 18, 1977Assignee: Fichtel & Sachs A.G.Inventor: Felix Wossner

Patent number: 4003608Abstract: A crawler drive system having an endless track is disclosed in which each track sprocket has a double row of teeth and each track shoe has a double row of lugs. The two lugs on each shoe, which lie in different rows, are spaced in the longitudinal direction a greater distance than adjacent teeth of the sprocket so that only one lug of a shoe is engaged by a sprocket tooth at any instant. The two lugs of successive shoes are spaced longitudinally a lesser distance than the pairs of teeth of the sprocket so that only a single lug of a single shoe is engaged by a sprocket tooth at any time.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1975Date of Patent: January 18, 1977Assignee: FMC CorporationInventor: Robert M. Patent number: 4000809Abstract: A conveyor having a tubular endless belt with lateral beads to be engaged by drive and idler pulleys and with clip springs to load the longitudinal edges of the belt into abutting relationship. In order to supply and discharge material respectively to and from the hollow space of the conveyor at desired locations along the conveyor path stationary pressure rollers separate the longitudinal edges of the belt against the bias of the clip springs. Alternatively, power can be used to separate the longitudinal edges of the belt, the power having pulleys engageable with the beads of the belt. To facilitate the discharge of material from the conveyor guide rollers provide a convex bight in the belt along the inner run thereof immediately ahead of the discharge location.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1974Date of Patent: January 4, 1977Assignee: Sintab Swedinventor ABInventor: Bo Nils Konrad Lenntoft

Patent number: 3999920Abstract: A hopper for mortar is provided with a gate slidable between one position wherein mortar is free to flow downwardly and out of the device and another position wherein the gate blocks the hopper outlet. The flanking walls of the hopper are provided with adjustable supports for striker posts. In use to fill a vertical joint between ends of two adjacent masonry blocks, the supports are adjusted to slightly enter and fully cover the opposite sides of the joint. With the hopper in place over the joint, the gate is slid open and mortar is permitted to flow, until the space between the ends of the two blocks, and between the two striker posts is filled. Then the gate is slid closed. As the device is lifted straight upwards, the striker posts which preferably present convex surfaces toward the mortar, automatically tool the opposite sides of the joint.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1975Date of Patent: December 28, 1976Inventor: Patrick J. Cerillo, Jr.

Patent number: 3998354Abstract: A closure for a container is formed by a plastic body part and a plastic closure part connected by a thin, integral section which forms a "score" line of easy tearability. The closure part has an annular wall slightly smaller than an annular wall of the body part. The score line is adjacent the bottom of the annular wall of the closure part and the top of the annular wall of the body part. Thus after the plastic has been torn along the score line, the annular wall of the closure part slips within the annular wall of the body part to form a reusable closure. The annular wall of the closure part and the annular wall of the body part have conformations that interlock when the two parts are so slipped together to releasably hold the closure part in place.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1975Date of Patent: December 21, 1976Inventor: John S. Song
