    Abstract: A selective paging receiver with message display has a receiver section, a number setting circuit, a paging number detector, and a display panel. The receiver section receives paging signals sent to the paging receiver, and recovers a paging number data signal and a message data signal from the paging signals. The message data signal includes both individual message data for the paging receiver, and common message data for the paging receiver in common with a preselected group of similar receivers. A number setting circuit assigns both a preselected individual paging number and a preselected common paging number to the receiver. The paging number detector searches for the individual paging number in a particular group time frame of the paging number signal. This time frame corresponds to a paging receiver group to which the paging receiver belongs. The paging number detector conducts a parallel search for the common paging number without regard for the particular group time frame.

    Abstract: An industrial process control transmitter has a modular construction, with a detector module and an output module electrically connected together by a serial bus. The output module includes a microcomputer, a modem for digital communication over the two-wire loop, analog output circuitry for controlling loop current, a digital-to-analog converter, and a memory for storing calibration factors and D/A characterization factors.The detector module includes several sensors with associated circuitry to convert the sensor signals to digital signals. The detector module also includes a memory which contains characterization factors unique to the sensors which can be used by the microcomputer to correct the digital values provided by the detector circuitry. The microcomputer of the output module is considered the master unit, and all of the circuits of the detector board which interface with the serial bus are considered slave units.

    Abstract: A holder for an electret microphone of the type having a front acoustic aperture and peripheral acoustic apertures is made of insulating material and includes a first sleeve portion of a diameter to receive the microphone snugly and a second sleeve portion of larger diameter. An internal stop limits the extent to which the microphone can be inserted such that the rear portion of the microphone projects into the second sleeve portion. Through holes in the second sleeve portion provide an acoustic passage to the peripheral acoustic apertures. The internal stop is in one embodiment formed by an apertured web. In another embodiment an internal shoulder forms the stop but in that embodiment too an apertured web is provided. A concentric small cylinder extends from the web in that case and terminates short of the shoulder. In either embodiment, a rectangular plate is molded with the sleeves and this forms the cover of a microphone enclosure.

    Abstract: A dome-shaped acoustic motor diaphragm having a core of aluminum foil in the form of a spider web configuration resulting in the dome shape, the diaphragm being in the form of an annular semi-dome outer diaphragm part and a dome-shaped cylindrical inner diaphragm part. The spider web core also enables a wide variety of diaphragm shapes to be possible. A voice coil bobbin is passed through a lower diaphragm layer and unto the underside of an upper diaphram layer via the core which more or less is the greatest height of the same core in the region of the outer diaphragm part, thereby resulting in a highly effective bonding strength between these parts. Damping is accomplished by means of a cylindrical bellows having a height representing the maximum excursion distance of the movable parts. A bobbin guide positioned within the bobbin and bonded to the inner face of the lower magnetic pole piece prevents the bobbin and voice coil in the annular air gap from contacting the pole pieces.

    Abstract: A segment constituting several points of digitized waveform data from a digitizer is stored in a pixel memory which has a number of memory locations corresponding to the number of pixels in the horizontal screen width of a raster scan video screen. As each new data point is written into a sequentially higher location in the memory, the data at the memory location a selected number of memory locations lower, constituting the desired number of pixels in the waveform segment, is erased. When a full new segment of data is in the waveform memory, the contents of the memory is provided to a raster scan graphics control unit which causes a new raster scan frame to be written on the video monitor screen. Only the portion of the waveform corresponding to the segment of waveform data in the waveform memory is illuminated on the screen. New data continues to be written into the waveform memory until another full segment of waveform data is in the memory and all previous waveform data points have been erased.

    Abstract: A radio frequency transmitter, amplitude modulated, having a single tuner that tunes the frequency oscillator, the isolating filter and the antenna impedance, all at the same time. The transmitter includes a tunable carrier generator for generating a carrier signal of a desired frequency, and a carrier isolator for filtering the carrier signal so as to ensure a clean, isolated carrier signal. A power amplifier is included for amplifying the signal from the carrier isolator. The power amplifier has a certain output impedance. An antenna is connected for transmitting the amplified signal from the power amplifier. The antenna also has a certain impedance. The transmitter further includes an impedance matching device connected between the antenna and the power amplifier for matching the antenna impedance and the power amplifier impedance. Finally, a single control knob is provided for simultaneously controlling the tunable carrier generator, the carrier isolator and the impedance matching device.

    Abstract: The pixel contents of a frame buffer scan line segment are moved from a source location to a destination location by reading fields of the source segment into a source data shift register and fields of the destination segment into a destination data shift register. The contents of the shift registers may then be rotated relative to one another to account for different starting locations within source and destination fields. The contents of the two shift registers are then simultaneously and synchronously shifted into an ALU where a replacement rule may be used to create a modified stream of pixels shifted into the emptying portion of the destination data shift register. At the conclusion of the shifting for that field the destination data shift register contains the proper pixels to be written back to the destination location in the frame buffer. Then the process is repeated for any remaining fields in the segment being moved.

Accordingly, the operator can correct the movement of the finger toward a desired key position by observing the cursor.
