Abstract: A method for managing a shift schedule, involving obtaining employee data for employees, a payroll constraint for a time period, and an employer requirement for the shift schedule, and collecting an employee availability schedule from each employee. The method further involves generating shift schedules based on the payroll constraint, employee data, employer requirement, and employee availability schedules, determining a payroll budget associated with each shift schedule, ranking the shift schedules based on the payroll budget to obtain a ranked list of shift schedules, and presenting the ranked list of shift schedules to an employer.

Abstract: A fully automated 360° employee review system that is suitable for corporate intranet or Web-based Internet applications. The system enables multi-perspective employee data collection from various sources such as an employee's superiors, peers, subordinates, clients and the employee himself. The system also permits a participant to select persons whose employment performance the employee desires to review but is not obligated to review. The system requires a managerial approval or denial both the reviewers an employee may select to review his or her performance and the reviewees the reviewer chooses to review. The system also permits managers or mentors to receive interim employee performance feedback and generate interim employee action plans between annual performance evaluations. In addition, the system permits a user to download the application and participate in the system's employee performance surveys while offline and disconnected from the corporate intranet or the World Wide Web.

The method further includes receiving notice that role handlers have been assigned to a plurality of tasks required to complete the project. Abstract: Methods and apparatus for evaluating geographic market opportunity are disclosed. Embodiments of the invention provide scaled market index values that indicate relative market opportunity among geographic statistical areas. Data can be gathered from both internal sources and public sources and the data from the two types of sources can merged to create summarized data corresponding to the geographic statistical areas of interest. A linear regression can be used to determine a scoring equation and average revenue per market. The scoring equation takes into account a plurality of market variables. In example embodiments of the invention, a raw market index is calculated for each geographic statistical area using the scoring equation and the average revenue. A scaled market index can be produced for each geographic statistical area using the raw market index.

Abstract: A system and method for scheduling or completing multiple types of healthcare interactions from a mobile computing device. The system identifies a customer or a target; communicates and notifies the target via some communication means (SMS, e-mail, mailed Post Card) to schedule an appointment. There is an association between the delivered message and the specific target (such as a weblink and a key), which allows the target to access the scheduling system without a separate login process. This system also allows the target to verify and update data about the target and to schedule an appointment.

Abstract: Systems and methods for economic retirement analysis are disclosed. In some embodiments, the method comprises identifying an existing component and at least one potential replacement component, estimating costs associated with the existing component and the at least one potential replacement component, calculating an economic retirement date for the existing component and an acquisition cost recovery date for the at least one potential replacement component, and storing the economic retirement date and the acquisition cost recovery date. Some system embodiments comprise a first memory that stores economic retirement software, a second memory that stores cost data in association with a component, and a processor that executes the economic retirement software. The economic retirement software configures the processor to calculate an economic retirement date of the existing component and store the economic retirement date.

Abstract: The invention provides the ability to evaluate transaction activity of customers following the redemption of a promotion, such as the redemption of a prepaid instrument, coupon, or the like. For example, the subsequent activity could be where customers shopped after redeeming a coupon. Examples of such reports that could be generated include the percentage of redeemers who returned to the same merchant or who went elsewhere. In some cases, customers could do both, or neither and the reports could indicate such activity. Further reports could show the amount spent for each return visit (both for those who return and go elsewhere), as well as the percentage who shop only with the merchant, and nowhere else.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for forecasting the demographic characterization of customers to help customize programming contents on each means for playing output of each site of a plurality of sites in a media network through automatically measuring, characterizing, and estimating the demographic information of customers that appear in the vicinity of each means for playing output. The analysis of demographic information of customers is performed automatically based on the visual information of the customers, using a plurality of means for capturing images and a plurality of computer vision technologies on the visual information. The measurement of the demographic information is performed in each measured node, where the node is defined as means for playing output. Extrapolation of the measurement characterizes the demographic information per each node of a plurality of nodes in a site of a plurality of sites of a media network.

In one embodiment, an apparatus for assisting a user in the execution of a task, where the task includes one or more workflows required to accomplish a goal defined by the user, includes a task learner for creating new workflows from user demonstrations, a workflow tracker for identifying and tracking the progress of a current workflow executing on a machine used by the user, a task assistance processor coupled to the workflow tracker, for generating a suggestion based on the progress of the current workflow, and a task executor coupled to the task assistance processor, for manipulating an application on the machine used by the user to carry out the suggestion.

Abstract: A method of redeeming a gift card having an associated programmed monetary value and incentivizing a user to purchase goods and services in an amount exceeding the programmed monetary value includes reading the identity of the gift card presented by a user and associating the gift card with a stored monetary card balance. The purchase amount of the user's desired purchase is determined and then compared with the associated card balance. A balance owing in excess of said associated card balance is calculated and the balance is then discounted by a predetermined percentage. Finally, payment from the user of the discounted balance owing is received. The system can include a registry to enable multiple subsequent discounts for a predetermined number of discounts during future purchases through the merchant or merchants.

Abstract: Techniques and tools are described for managing interaction with electronic advertisements. In some examples, user contact information is received from a user who has indicated interest in an electronic advertisement, where the user contact information comprises the user's phone number. A do-not-call status of the user is determined based at least in part on the user's phone number. Based on the do-not-call status, further action is taken, such as providing a message to the user. In some situations, the message provided to the user can include a click-to-call link for contacting the advertiser.

Abstract: Systems and methods of workforce scheduling are disclosed. One example embodiment, among others, comprises a computer-implemented method of scheduling workers. Each worker is associated with one of a set of flexibility classifications, which include non-flex-time and at least one flex-time. The method includes generating a set of shift instances to cover forecasted demand over a planning period, and assigning the shift instances to the set of workers by iterating through the each of the workers to assign at least a portion of the shift instances to a selected one of the workers. The assigning is such that total hours assigned to the selected worker depends on a number associated with the classification of the selected worker.

Abstract: The method, system and a computer program and a computer product for managing workers and documents is provided. The method includes storing industry representations and a list of workers with data related to the workers, linking the industry representations to the workers and selecting at least one worker from based on the industry representations for that worker. The method also includes scheduling workers to a job based on whether they have all of the required industry representations. In addition, the method includes uploading industry representations and bar code scanning industry representations into the database. The method further includes dispatching said industry representations to other users and automatically mapping fields of the dispatched data in the destination database. In addition, the method includes selectively encrypting only sensitive fields in data transmission between two entities.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and program product are provided for generating an allocation table in a computerized procurement system. The method comprises receiving first data from a purchase order regarding a plurality of articles to be allocated, and receiving second data from an assortment regarding the plurality of articles and a plurality of stores identified for receiving the articles at specified times. The method further comprises determining a fixed quantity of each article to be allocated to each store based on at least one of the first and second data, wherein the fixed quantity of each article is the same for all stores. The method also comprises determining a variable quantity of each article to be allocated to each store, wherein the variable quantity of each article is individually set for each store, and wherein the variable quantity of each article is determined based on analysis of historical data.

The method includes the steps of: (a) selecting a state from possible states in a current term; (b) selecting an action from action candidates that can be executed in a selected state; (c) calculating a probability distribution of an evaluation value for a selected action; (d) calculating a risk measure using the probability distribution of the evaluation value; (e) determining a weighting function conforming to at least one preference by taking the risk measure into consideration; (f) calculating a value measure of the selected action; (g) repeating steps (b) through (f) for all other the action candidates that can be executed in the selected state; and (h) comparing the value measures of the selected actions in order to determine an optimal action for the selected state.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and computer program product for managing scheduling of appointments with respect to a quorum requirement. The solution includes scheduling an appointment with each of a plurality of invitees, receiving one or more appointment management requests associated with the appointment from the invitees, the one or more appointment management requests including a change in the appointment, determining that a subset of the appointment management requests constitute a common request, determining that invitees that sent the common request satisfy the quorum constraint for the appointment, and implementing the common request in response to invitees that sent the common request satisfying the quorum constraint. The common request may include an acceptance, a cancellation notice, a cancellation request, and a re-scheduling request.
