  • Patent number: 11845022
Abstract: In a system for performing a multi-step process for selectively purifying various pharmacologically-relevant components of a source plant such as cannabis, an initial step of the process provides a low-temperature, robust process for dehydrating and decarboxylating the starting product—fresh raw cannabis—by means of a vacuum-assisted microwave distillation process. An important by-product of the dehydration/decarboxylation is a terpene-rich distillate. By doing the terpene capture under vacuum, distillation temperature may be kept low. The low distillation temperature maximizes yields of thermally-sensitive components such as terpenes and cannabinoids.

  • Patent number: 11833457
Abstract: A support beam is provided for supporting an internal such as a structured or grid packing within a mass transfer column. The support beam has an elongated web and upper and lower open flanges respectively positioned at upper and lower edge portions of the web. Each of the upper and lower open flanges has reinforcement rails that extend along a longitudinal length of the web and are spaced from opposed first and second faces of the web by spacers to create open fluid flow channels between the reinforcement rails and the first and second faces of the web. The upper and lower open flanges strengthen the web against deflection while minimizing horizontal surfaces that may lead to accumulation and growth of solids that may interfere with fluid flow to and from the internal.

  • Patent number: 11826672
Abstract: Systems and methods for separating components from a fluid stream are described. The systems and methods described herein may be specifically well suited for separating solids, hydrocarbons, chemicals, non-evaporable components, etc., from wastewater produced by oil and gas recovery. The systems and methods may generally include the use of a heat exchanger through which a fluid stream is passed to thereby evaporate some or all of the fluid stream. The heated stream exiting the heat exchanger may include vapor, liquids and/or solids. This heated stream is then subjected to phase separation to separate a vapor stream from a liquid/solids stream. The vapor stream is then transported back to the heat exchanger where it is used to transfer heat from the vapor stream to the fluid stream. During the operation of the heat exchanger, a scraping system may be used to scrape the one or more surfaces of the passage through which the fluid stream flows in order to prevent buildup of solids and liquids thereon.
