  • Patent number: 5890406
Abstract: An improved combined torque limiting and part marking wrench according to the present invention includes: a torque-applying handle; a housing pivotally mounted to the handle, the housing adapted to receive a releasably mounted, replaceable, part-engaging head assembly at a second end thereof; and a part-marking mechanism mounted within the housing. The part-marking mechanism includes a marking tip which passes through a bore in the head assembly for marking a part. A mechanical linkage arm is pivotally connected to the torque-applying handle. A pivotable cam is pivotally connected to the linkage arm and in operative engagement with the part-marking mechanism for moving the marking tip through the bore, such that, when torque on a part has reached a predetermined value, the torque applying handle moves the linkage arm, which pivots the pivotable cam, thus forcing the pivotable cam against the part marking mechanism, which causes the marking tip to extend outwardly from the housing to mark the part.

  • Patent number: 5862722
Abstract: An adjustable wrench has a slotted body member and a handle threaded into a bore in a body member stem and protruding into one end of the slot. A movable jaw piece is rotatably mounted to the protruding handle end and slidable in the slot. A pair of angled fixed jaw faces is formed at the far end of the slot, while corresponding jaw faces are formed on the movable jaw piece. Relative rotation of the handle and body member causes relative advance or retraction of the movable jaw piece in the slot to adjust the spacing between the sets of jaw faces to fit the wrench to bolt heads or nuts of various sizes. The structural support afforded by the handle-movable jaw piece connection enables low cost construction and compact structure allowing greater accessibility to recessed bolt heads and nuts. A locking rod extends within the handle in some embodiments, with a locking knob at the remote handle able to be tightened to hold an adjusted position.

  • Patent number: 5862720
Abstract: A hand tool for removing the stopper, foil and wire basket all together simultaneously from a bottle of champagne in a safe, quick and easy manner, the tool consisting of a first and a second half. Each half provides a handle means for grasping and manipulating the tool, an angled portion at which point the halves overlap and are pivotally secured together, and one of a pair of curved gripping heads designed to engage with the stopper. Each of the gripping heads has an in facing curved surface to accommodate the stopper therebetween and a pair of elongated pointed teeth extending inwardly therefrom. The teeth on each of the gripping heads are spaced apart a sufficient distance to straddle a wire rib of the wire basket. A concave groove is positioned between each set of teeth so as to allow the teeth to penetrate and firmly grip the stopper, penetrating to the full length of each of the teeth into a cork stopper, while accommodating the ribs within the groove.

  • Patent number: 5855151
Abstract: A driver attachment for a collated screwstrip carrying screws in which a slide body is slidable in a housing parallel a longitudinal axis about which a drive shaft is rotatable. The slide body receives a screwstrip such that a screw feed activation mechanism coupled between the housing and the slide body advances successive screws into a position to be driven by the drive shaft with relative sliding of the slide body relative the housing between an extended and a retracted position. A latch system is provided to latch the slide body to the housing against extension towards the extended position beyond an extension limit position. With the slide body and housing latched together, the driver attachment may be used to drive or withdraw separate screws independently of the screwstrip, with or without the screwstrip engaged in the slide body.

  • Patent number: 5852961
Abstract: A tool for use as an aid in emptying waste fluid from a reservoir to a waste container. This tool is a funnel shaped device having a large circular opening for entrance of waste fluid. A funnel wall extends from the larger opening to a smaller opening, preferably offset from the larger circular opening. Access to the funnel interior is provided through the funnel wall, serving as a guide and seal for passage of a wrench extension. The end of the extension is preferably a standard 3/8" square drive plug for mounting an appropriately sized 3/8" drive socket or plug for removal of the reservoir drain plug. The choice of socket or plug to be mounted to the extension depends on the configuration of the drain plug. The opposite end of the wrench extension has a socket for adapting to a preferred 3/8" driver. In operation, the wrench extension is passed through the access to the funnel interior, and the appropriate sized socket or plug is placed on the 3/8" drive end of the wrench extension.
