  • Patent number: 6637993
Abstract: There is provided a floating nut which opportunity of application can be expanded by increasing the floating amount of the floating nut. The clearance between the spline of an outer circumferential surface of a nut 6 and a spline opening 5b of a retainer 5 is freely set on the condition that the outside diameter df of a flange 6c of the nut 6 and the outside diameter dj of a stop ring 7 are larger than the diameter of a spline opening 5b of the retainer 5. The applications of the floating nut 4 can be extended by determining the clearance between the spline of the outer circumferential surface of the nut 6 and the spline opening 5b of the retainer 5 according to the required floating amount.

  • Patent number: 6616391
Abstract: A fastener for use in conjunction with plastic lumber is provided with an undercut head and radially projecting helical flutes on the shank which combine to contain plastic lumber material displaced by the shank and head beneath the head, permitting a single step installation to produce a finished appearance. The helical flutes have an opposed helical orientation to the screw threads. This opposed relationship causes the flutes to push displaced plastic lumber material away from the screw head while the flutes bore a space for plastic lumber material displaced by countersinking the screw head. The undercut head may be provided with a series of teeth around the underside of the head periphery. The teeth aid in penetrating the surface of the plastic lumber. The teeth also resist backing out of the screw.

  • Patent number: 6561721
Abstract: A cable bolt comprises a cable with a tubular yielding fixture at one of its ends. The pull-off load of such yielding fixture can be adjusted to a desired value. This is achieved by unwinding one end of the cable and inserting a slug over the kingwire. Then, the peripheral wires are wound again over the kingwire forming a bulge in the cable where the slug is located. The yielding fixture is then slid on the cable and forced over the bulged portion of the cable, while measuring the load required to achieve this operation, which also becomes the pull-off load of the yielding fixture. Finally, any part of the cable protruding from the fixture is cut-off to form the cable bolt with the desired yielding fixture at its end.

  • Patent number: 6514023
Abstract: The fastener includes a pin and a body. The pin includes longitudinal grooves which communicate with partially threaded grooved which traverse the circumference of the shank by an interger multiple of 180°. Retention fingers engage the longitudinal grooves in the pre-installed configuration and allow straight-line insertion of the pin into the body. The retention fingers are then urged outwardly by the walls of the partially threaded grooves and then snap engage into subsequent portions of the partially threaded grooves thereby preventing straight-line removal of the pin. The pin, however, can be subsequently removed by threaded rotating the pin until the retention fingers engage the longitudinal grooves. Thereafter, the pin can be manually removed by a straight-line motion.

  • Patent number: 6508458
Abstract: A rail has an axially extending undercut groove of a uniform generally “C” shape in cross section and is supported by supports attached to the rail in spaced-apart relation. Each support includes a bracket and a lock member attached to the bracket for rotation and against displacement of the lock member relative to the bracket member. The lock member includes a locking cam portion, which is received in the undercut groove and has a size and shape such that it can enter the undercut groove when it is in an unlocked rotational position relative to the undercut groove and such that it frictionally engages walls of the undercut groove in a locked rotational position relative to the undercut groove and thereby retains the rail against displacement relative to a structure that supports the rail.
