Abstract: A communication terminal is capable of simultaneously communicating through a plurality of carriers by carrier aggregation, and the communication terminal comprises: a quality measurement unit for measuring the reception quality of a radio wave transmitted through a plurality of carriers from a base station of a connected cell to obtain a measured value; a primary carrier storage unit storing information specifying a primary carrier chosen from the plurality of carriers; a comparator for comparing a measured value of the primary carrier measured by the quality measurement unit to a threshold value; and a cell search unit for searching for another cell when the measured value of the primary carrier is less than or equal to the threshold value. Consequently, a search threshold value for carrier aggregation can be appropriately determined to perform a cell search and a quality measurement.

  • Patent number: 11902948
Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for improving pairing of user equipment (UE) in a Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system using carrier aggregation are provided. Component carriers (CC) used for communication with UEs in the network may undergo routine beamforming calibration checks to determine if the CCs are calibrated. If a CC fails calibration, then UEs that communicate with the CC as their primary component carrier (PCC) may not be receiving the high data throughput typically experienced through the PCC. In response to determining that a CC fails calibration, a computing device may pair UEs with another CC as their PCC until the original CC passes a calibration check. The computing device may determine which CC to pair to the UEs based on uplink capacity, bandwidth, or a passed calibration check.

  • Patent number: 11647428
Abstract: A communication method supports Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) codec performed by a communication terminal apparatus. The method includes performing negotiation to use an EVS codec for communication between a communication terminal apparatus and a counterpart terminal, using an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) signaling including one of a session description protocol (SDP) offer and an SDP answer, and performing negotiation to specify one or more audio-bandwidths of input signals in Hertz (Hz) or kilohertz (kHz) for the EVS codec. In a communication session after the codec negotiation session, the processor causes the receiver to receive a signaling for changing an audio-bandwidth of an input signal to the EVS codec from a network node, changes the audio-bandwidth of the input signal to the EVS codec to another audio-bandwidth without changing the EVS codec based on the signaling, and causes the transmitter to transmit encoded data in the changed audio-bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 11632208
Abstract: Channel covariance feedback is disclosed for enhanced full-dimension multiple input, multiple output (eFD-MIMO) systems. Channel state information (CSI) reference signal (CSI-RS) feedback operations are implemented using spatial covariance feedback of a covariance estimate. After obtaining a set of orthogonal basis vectors, a user equipment (UE) measures the CSI-RS from a base station and determines the spatial covariance matrix from the signal. The UE may then compress the spatial covariance matrix into a lower-dimension covariance estimate matrix using the orthogonal basis vectors. The lower-dimension matrix along with element-wise quantization allows for feedback of spatial covariance for eFD-MIMO systems without excessive feedback overhead.

  • Patent number: 11533650
Abstract: An eNodeB or other cell access point device can receive demand data from mobile devices served by the cell. The demand data can represent an estimate of demand over a future period for network resources (e.g., bandwidth). The cell can aggregate this demand data and determine price data for the time period or for various intervals of the time period, then transmit the price data to the mobile devices. The price data can operate as a collaborative approach to scheduling traffic. For example, data (e.g., delay tolerant data) can be shifted (e.g., delayed for a few seconds) based on an examination of the price data in conjunction a determined priority of the data. Such can be applicable to data traffic not traditionally thought of as delay tolerant such as streaming video or web browsing, and can be accomplished without negatively impacting the quality of service or experience of the client.

  • Patent number: 11493978
Abstract: Techniques for employing a decentralized sleep management service are described herein. In some instances, each computing device of a group of computing devices periodically shares information about itself with each other computing device of the group. With this information, each computing device within the group that is awake and capable of managing other devices selects a subset of devices to probe. The devices then probe this subset to determine whether the probed devices are asleep. In response to identifying a sleeping device, the probing device takes over management of the sleeping device. Managing the sleeping device involves informing other devices of the group that the sleeping device is being managed, in addition to monitoring requests for services on the sleeping device. In response to receiving a valid request for a service hosted by the sleeping device, the managing device awakens the sleeping device and ceases managing the now-woken device.
