  • Patent number: 4623128
Abstract: A fencing structure having at least a pair of upright posts each having vertically extending channels that face one another. Extending between each pair of posts are an inverted channel top rail and a bottom rail. The top rail has inwardly directed webs which define an inwardly directed panel receiving throat as has the bottom rail when assembled. A rectangular panel is secured to the top rail and bottom rail by brackets which are locked in the channel, to inwardly directed webs of the top rail and to the bottom rail.

  • Patent number: 4611946
Abstract: Flexible joint, including at least two plate spring members (3, 3'), located separated from each other and extending substantially parallel in relation to each other, attached in connection to first and each other adjacently located end portions against a first element (1') and having opposed end portions movably attached against a second element (1). By introducing a substantially similar first displacement movement for the plate spring members (3, 3'), the elements (1, 1') can be separated from an abutting and linearly extending position, and by means of a continued and different displacement movement, the first element (1) is pivoted to an angularly different position of extension in relation to the second element (1).

  • Patent number: 4610560
Abstract: This invention relates to connector systems for portable display devices. The connectors of this invention allow adjoining panels of the display device to be joined to each other and be moved in pivotal relationship with each other. The connector consists of a male member which is secured to a channel which is an integral part of the display device and a connector plate which joins two or more channels together. When the channels are joined using the connector of this invention, the channels and their associated display panels may be pivotally disposed in relationship to each other.

  • Patent number: 4609185
Abstract: A rail and post fence structure (20) includes tubular posts (22) having a plurality of apertures (50) in the side walls thereof for receiving one end of the rails (24, 26, 28, 30). Each rail has a generally channel cross-section with a web (56) and side walls (58) extending therefrom. The side walls have flanges (60) extending inwardly. The aperture in the side walls of the posts substantially correspond with the outer configuration of the rails such that assembly is accomplished by inserting the rails into the apertures of the posts. The rails are attached to the posts by use of a separator structure for spreading the side walls of the rails. This separator structure includes an elongated clip (70) having a web (72) and a pair of legs (74, 76) extending from opposing longitudinal sides of the web for engagement with the inturned flanges of the rail.

  • Patent number: 4606671
Abstract: The invention relates to a coupling for making a connection secured against relative rotational and axial displacement between a hub member and a shaft member. The shaft and hub members have engaging keys and grooves at the internal and external circumferences thereof. The hub member has a circumferential groove undercutting the keys thereof and an insert member having the same key and groove configuration as the shaft member is disposed therein. The insert member is circumferentially offset relative to the hub member so that the respective keys and grooves thereof are out of alignment. The keys of the insert and hub members are then in axially abutting engagement with the insert member serving as an anchor so that a screw connection between the shaft and the insert members allows the shaft and hub members to be drawn towards each other to form a firm and secure connection.

  • Patent number: 4606667
Abstract: A stationary robotic base carries a movable robotic platform and supports a pair of vertical striker plates spaced apart by a central, elastomeric block. The striker plates are confined within a compartment of the stationary base, and extend upward into a pathway defined by a lug depending from the moving platform. The lug contacts the top portion of a given striker plate and, as the plate is struck, it tends to pivot about its bottom edge toward the other plate, compressing the elastomeric block, while the other plate is held from moving away from the block. The assembly is bidirectional, with each striker plate being yieldable toward the other as it is encountered by the moving lug.

  • Patent number: 4597688
Abstract: An improved sucker rod assembly is provided for use in oil wells and the like. The assembly includes a sucker rod of fiberglass, carbon fibers, graphite fibers, plastic or the like and with a pair of end fittings secured to opposite ends thereof. Each fitting includes a rigid elongated casing of metal or the like having interior surfaces defining an open front end and a central cavity extending rearwardly from that front end, in which cavity one end of the sucker rod is disposed. The side portions of the interior surfaces of the casing are contoured to define with the side portions of the sucker rod end in the cavity a single, annular, elongated, tapered, frusto-conical or wedge-shaped space. An anchoring component substantially fills the space and bonds to the side portions of the rod to lock the rod end in the space and thereby secure the fitting to the rod. Preferably, the anchoring component has a narrower diameter at the front end than at the rear end thereof.

  • Patent number: 4595311
Abstract: A tubular reinforcing member having end surfaces which conform to the cylindrical inner surface of a tubular chord member are positioned within the tubular chord member at the intersection of a bracing member. The longitudinal axis of the tubular reinforcing member is positioned so as to be coincident with the longitudinal axis of the intersecting bracing member. The use of the internal tubular reinforcing member constitutes an improvement over the commonly used stiffening rings in the direct translation of tensional and compression forces acting along a bracing member is transferred to a portion of the wall of the chord member opposite to that to which the bracing member is attached.

  • Patent number: 4592672
Abstract: A substantially rigid structural joint can be assembled from an assembly made up of a pair of separate joinery parts. Each joinery part is preferably in the form of a rigid rectangular-shaped, sheet metal strip. One joinery part has a bracing member connected to and extending outwardly from one of its longitudinal sides in an orthogonal relationship. The bracing member also extends toward and along one of the longitudinal sides of the other joinery part when the latter is placed in an erected condition with the one joinery part. In such condition, they extend in orthogonal relationship to one another and have end portions which form a corner therebetween. Interengagable male and female elements on end portions of the joinery parts adjacent the corner are mated together when the parts are placed in their erected condition.

  • Patent number: 4586843
Abstract: A device for attaching an object to a wall comprises a body with a cylindrical head centrally disposed on a base. The head incorporates longitudinal elastic members terminating in hooks. These are adapted to engage on the edges of an opening in the wall into which the head is inserted. A clamping ring mounted on the head is movable along its length. A spring is disposed between the base of the body and the clamping ring. The force exerted by this spring is transmitted to the wall so as to lock the hooks on to the edges of the opening. Cooperating guide means on the clamping ring and on the body are adapted to guide the clamping ring as it moves along the head, simultaneously rotating. Cooperating locking means on the body and on the clamping ring are adapted to lock the clamping ring in a bottom position on the head.
