  • Patent number: 10104516
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for processing messages in an Offline Charging System (OFCS) of a communications services provider. A front-end distributor unit receives Diameter messages from a Charging Trigger Function (CTF) and distributes the Diameter messages to Charging Data Function (CDF) units of the OFCS. The distributor unit receives Diameter response messages from CDFs and calculates performance metrics based on the distributed messages and their responses. The distributor unit computes revised distribution weights used for distributing new Diameter messages for new Diameter sessions to the CDF units based on the measured metrics, thus adjusting the distribution pattern of the Diameter messages based on estimated workload conditions at the CDFs.

  • Patent number: 10085270
Abstract: The disclosed subject matter provides for selecting a radio access technology resource based on historical data related to the radio access technology resource. Location information can be employed to determine a radio access technology resource. Historical information related to the radio access technology resource can then be employed to determine the suitability of the radio access technology resource. A set of radio access technology resources can be ordered or ranked to allow selection of a suitable radio access technology resource from the set. Incorporation of historical information can provide for additional metrics in the selection of a radio access technology resource over simple contemporaneous radio access technology resource information. In some embodiments, timed fingerprint location (TFL) information can be employed to determine a location.

  • Patent number: 10064039
Abstract: A network services provider grants a subscription to a user for use of mobile network services to communicate voice, data, and text information with a specific mobile device. Mobile devices store one or more subscriptions, each of which may be activated. An activated subscription stored in the mobile device is now made portable. The user wants to pass the portable subscription from a first mobile device to a second mobile device. The user forms a first communicative relationship between the first mobile device and a second mobile device and receives from the second mobile device identification information associated with the second mobile device. The first mobile device passes the identification information to the network services provider and receives a confirmation. The user forms a second communicative relationship between the first mobile device and the second mobile device, and the second mobile device confirms activation of the portable subscription.

  • Patent number: 10045265
Abstract: A network node serves a cell of a mobile network. The network node indicates an offset value to a user equipment in the cell. The offset value is added to a channel quality value measured by the user equipment for triggering a handover from the cell to a further cell of the mobile network. The network node increases the indicated offset value until a handover of the user equipment to the further cell of the mobile network is triggered. After the handover to the further cell, the network node receives an indication of a channel quality of a downlink control channel of the further cell as experienced by the user equipment, e.g., in control signalling of a further handover of the user equipment back to the cell or in a request to protect radio resources of the downlink control channel.
