  • Patent number: 11228885
Abstract: Techniques for provisioning electronic devices that may not have a local provisioning agent (LPA), such as Internet of Things (IoT) devices, to a mobile network of a mobile network operator (MNO), are discussed herein. The IoT devices and/or the associated embedded subscriber identity module (eSIM) may have one or more device profile templates stored thereon, where individual ones of the device profile templates are associated with a particular MNO. A device provisioning system of an MNO may provision the IoT device in a machine-to-machine (M2M) manner over the air (OTA) by communicating, such as via a radio node, one or more configuration parameters to the IoT device. The IoT device may identify a device profile template associated with the MNO to which the IoT device is to be provisioned and configure that device profile template based at least in part on the configuration parameters received from the device provisioning system.

  • Patent number: 11224012
Abstract: The disclosed technology includes at least one method performed by a system of a telecommunications network. The system can establish a communications link between the wireless device and a network access node (NAN) of the 5G network. While connected over a non-mmW band, the wireless device autonomously schedules data downloads to occur when the wireless device is on an mmW band. The system then receives a request from the wireless device to perform the data downloads, which can be enabled by a packet gateway (PGW) upon receiving a confirmation by the NAN that the wireless device can connect over the mmW band. Otherwise, the PGW denies the wireless device's request to perform the data downloads, which can be enforced by the NAN.

  • Patent number: 11218554
Abstract: An operation method of a first communication node in a communication network identifies a number of second communication nodes receiving messages in a first reception mode and a number of third communication nodes receiving messages in a second reception mode. A transmission mode is determined for transmitting a wireless access in vehicular environments service advertisement (WSA) message based on the identified numbers. A transmission period is then determined for transmitting the WSA message based on the transmission mode. The WSA message is transmitted based on the transmission mode and the transmission period. A protocol used for the first reception mode is different from a protocol used for the second reception mode.

  • Patent number: 11178539
Abstract: Text message communications between operator devices and service devices are enabled by the assignment of a telephone number defined for those service devices. A text message communication may be initiated by an operator device accessing a web service associated with a software platform or by the software platform itself. One of the service devices for which the telephone number is defined for use is selected, for example, based on information received as input from the operator device. The telephone number is assigned to that service device to enable the service device to participate in the text message communication with the operator device. At the conclusion of the text message communication, the telephone number is released from the service device to enable one of the other service devices to use it, for example, to continue the same text message communication or to participate in a different text message communication.

  • Patent number: 11178706
Abstract: Connection settings used by a mobile device to connect to a packet data network, e.g. the internet, are stored in a subscriber identity module (SIM) card. This enables connection settings to be pre-loaded on a SIM card, allowing a mobile device to immediately connect to the internet without manual configuration. The mobile device's connection settings may also be updated by a mobile network operator via an over the air profile update. For example, the operator may supply a device with connection settings the first time it connects to the network. Connection settings may be stored in one or more files within the SIM profile, and may be updated via a remote file management operation. Embedded-SIM (eSIM) profiles may also store connection settings in profile metadata, which may be updated via a metadata update operation.
