  • Patent number: 11632755
Abstract: A communication device, method and computer program product support concurrently receiving an embedded subscriber identity module (eSIM) profile and non-eSIM digital content from separate servers to enable service from a selected carrier. The communication device receives carrier destination data. The communication device requests download of the eSIM profile associated with a selected carrier from a subscription or carrier server based on the identified carrier destination. The communication device receives, via the network interface, digital content associated with the selected carrier and a configuration of the communication device from a configuration manager hosted on a configuration server. The digital content enables functionality via the selected carrier. The communication device installs the eSIM profile in the eSIM.

  • Patent number: 11627498
Abstract: Embodiments herein describe techniques for dynamically negotiating an SLA between a roaming device and a VN in an identity federation. Instead of an IDP having to individually negotiate with a VN to decide on an SLA before a user device roams to the VN, the parties can dynamically negotiate the SLA after the user device has detected the VN (but before the device is permitted to connect or associate with the VN). In one embodiment, when a roaming user device comes within wireless range of a VN, the roaming device receives an advertisement from the VN that indicates the current SLA (or SLAs) offered by the VN. The roaming device can compare this offered SLA to a stored SLA in an identity profile the device received from the IDP to determine whether to accept the offer. In another embodiment, the SLA is instead negotiated between VN and the IDP.

  • Patent number: 11611866
Abstract: Systems, methods, and software of directly connecting a SIM-less device with a cellular network. In one embodiment, User Equipment (UE) includes a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) provisioned with a plurality of subscription profiles for subscriptions to the cellular network. The UE establishes a direct communication with a SIM-less device that does not have a subscription with the cellular network. The UE selects one of the subscriptions provisioned in the SIM as a temporary subscription assigned to the SIM-less device to allow the SIM-less device to establish a direct connection with the cellular network using the temporary subscription, and transmits a message to the SIM-less device via the direct communication containing subscription credentials for the temporary subscription. The SIM-less device may therefore register with the cellular network using the subscription credentials provided by the UE, and establish a direct connection with the cellular network using the temporary subscription.

  • Patent number: 11601784
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for using ranging signals to determine a position of a pedestrian user equipment (P-UE). In an aspect, a UE receives a plurality of ranging signals transmitted by one or more UEs, measures one or more properties of each of the plurality of ranging signals, and calculates an estimate of the position of the P-UE based on the one or more properties of each of the plurality of ranging signals. In an aspect, the P-UE transmits a plurality of ranging signals, receives a first message and a second message from first and second vehicle UEs (V-UEs), the first and second messages including first and second estimated positions of the P-UE and associated first and second confidences, and calculates an estimate of the position of the P-UE based on the first estimated position, the first confidence, the second estimated position, the second confidence, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 11589328
Abstract: Systems and methods for categorizing communication data are described herein. The systems and methods enable an IMS core network to register a user equipment as a 5G-capable device and store communication data in a manner that differentiates the communication data from non-5G devices. Once identified as a 5G-capable device and information that 5G coverage is available is received, the registration message from the user equipment to the IMS core is modified to configure the IMS core to store the communication data as 5G communication data rather than non-5G communication data.

  • Patent number: 11576016
Abstract: Systems and methods for mobile connectivity provisioning at an access network are described. The access network has a service connection to a service center that is external to the access network. The method includes receiving, from a mobile vehicle, an indication of a connection request for a device on the mobile vehicle. The connection request identifies the device using a media access control (MAC) address. The method includes generating a globally unique identifier (GUID) associated with the MAC address and transmitting a first message comprising the GUID to a network access terminal on the vehicle. The network access terminal redirects the connection request to the service center via a traffic connection. The redirected connection request includes the GUID. The access network receives an indication of a network service for the device from the service center; the indication identifies the device based on the GUID.

  • Patent number: 11564265
Abstract: A system uses deep packet inspection and a services policy database to select policy control functions based on services associated with a packet data session rather than an access point name or data network name. As a packet data session is initiated, a system management function (SMF) determines a service associated with the session and routes a policy request to one of several policy control functions (PCF or PCRF) depending on the service. Policies specific to the service may be chosen and enforced at the selected PCF/PCRF.

  • Patent number: 11533614
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein describe vehicle-based authentication protocols. An illustrative authentication server may receive a request to authenticate a user connected from a mobile device. The authentication server may transmit a request to the mobile device to transmit geolocation data of the mobile device. In response, the mobile device may transmit a stream of its geolocation data. Based upon the received geolocation data stream, the authentication server may determine that the mobile device in a motion and select a vehicle-based authentication protocol to request geolocation data of a trusted vehicle. The authentication server may compare the mobile device geolocation data stream and the vehicle geolocation data stream to determine a similarity score. If the similarity score is above a threshold, the authentications server may authenticate the user. In some cases, the authentication server may authenticate the user if the mobile device is connected to the trusted vehicle.
