  • Patent number: 5437385
Abstract: The lid with cams for closing a pot or paint etc. has an underside provided with a seal to be clamped against an edge of a rim of the pot by pivoting the cams on the underside of the lid with levers placed on the top side of the lid. At least the rim is coated inside with a friction-sensitive, corrosion-protective material. Each of the cams is connected to the respective lever with a spindle. A spring biases this spindle, and thus the cam, in an upward direction. Each cam is maintained at a distance from the bearing surface of the rim in every positions of the cam except a position in which the cam extends outwardly from the lid (closing position) so as to protect the friction-sensitive corrosion-protective coating of the rim from abrasion.

  • Patent number: 5431296
Abstract: A corrosion resistant insert of the present invention is used for fitting at an opening in a metallic liquid tank. The insert has an open end, a radially outwardly extending lip at the open end, a closed end and an axially extending side wall spacing the open end and closed ends from one another. The closed end has a displaceable portion secured to the insert in a preweakened manner which facilitates opening in one direction while resisting opening in the other direction. The use of the insert in the tank enables lining and then pressure testing of the tank ready for fittings after which the closed end of the insert is opened to allow liquid flow through the tank when the tank is in use.

  • Patent number: 5429268
Abstract: This invention includes an above ground gas storage vessel of tubular or cylindrical configuration. A head or cap with threads mating the threads of the tube is screwed on each end of the tube to form a pressure vessel. Each cap contains a passage therein threaded to mate a reducing bushing. The reducing bushing likewise contains a passage which is at least partially threaded. This passage may be capped to prevent gas flow or valve to allow the flow of gas as required. In an alternative embodiment, the cap assembly is inserted into the tube and retained therein. A packing assembly would be used to seal the tube to prevent the escape of gas. A plurality of vessels are secured in a vertical-parallel arrangement using a support structure to increase gas storage capacity while taking up a minimal amount of ground space.

  • Patent number: 5427268
Abstract: A housing for the containment of instrumentation in a high pressure fluid environment that consists of a metallic endcap and ceramic cylinder bonded together. The improvement comprises a structure which results in the improved sealing of said housing as the fluid pressure increases. The cylindrical ceramic tube and endcap are dimensioned such that mechanical failure does not occur when exposed to the desired external operating pressures which includes up to 36,000 feet of water. The housing is designed to withstand the external operating pressures without being subject to mechanical failure or excessive deformation which results in the loss of pressure housing integrity via cracking or deformation of the ceramic tube, deformation of the endcap, or from failure of the bonding agent.
