  • Patent number: 11375195
Abstract: An image coding method includes: performing context arithmetic coding to consecutively code (i) first information indicating whether or not to perform sample adaptive offset (SAO) processing for a first region of an image and (ii) second information indicating whether or not to use, in the SAO processing for the first region, information on SAO processing for a region other than the first region, the context arithmetic coding being arithmetic coding using a variable probability, the SAO processing being offset processing on a pixel value; and performing bypass arithmetic coding to code other information which is information on the SAO processing for the first region and different from the first information or the second information, after the first information and the second information are coded, the bypass arithmetic coding being arithmetic coding using a fixed probability.

  • Patent number: 11363305
Abstract: A better compromise between encoding complexity and achievable rate distortion ratio, and/or to achieve a better rate distortion ratio is achieved by using multitree sub-divisioning not only in order to subdivide a continuous area, namely the sample array, into leaf regions, but using the intermediate regions also to share coding parameters among the corresponding collocated leaf blocks. By this measure, coding procedures performed in tiles—leaf regions—locally, may be associated with coding parameters individually without having to, however, explicitly transmit the whole coding parameters for each leaf region separately. Rather, similarities may effectively exploited by using the multitree subdivision.

  • Patent number: 11363295
Abstract: A video decoding method is provided. The method includes obtaining a current frame of a video input; partitioning the current video frame into a plurality of coding blocks; predicting a symbol level for each coding block in intra prediction modes included in an allowed intra prediction mode (AIPM) set, where the intra prediction modes included in the AIPM set are a subset of all available intra prediction modes in video coding formats of different video coding schemes and are determined based on coding efficiency and compression performance, and each of the intra prediction modes included in the AIPM set is identified by an index number; transforming and quantizing a residual symbol level; entropy coding the transformed and quantized residual symbol level; and outputting a bitstream.

  • Patent number: 11356605
Abstract: An Internet of Things (IoT) or vehicle dash cam may store both a high-resolution and low-resolution video stream on a device. The video streams are selectively accessible by remote devices. Because of the relatively smaller storage requirements of low-resolution video files, retaining of additional video data on the vehicle device (beyond what would be possible with only high-resolution video) is possible. The user may be provided an option to adjust the amount of low-resolution and high-resolution video to store on the device. A combined media file may be generated by a device to include time-synced high-resolution video, low-resolution video, and/or metadata for a particular time period.

  • Patent number: 11356618
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an image synthesis device for an electronic mirror includes a rear camera which obtains a first image from a first position, and a side camera which obtains a second image of the same direction with a view of the rear camera from a second position. The second image includes a view obstruction. When a part of the first image is connected as a complementary image to the view obstruction of the second image, an image processing device converts an image of the view obstruction into a translucent image, superimposes the complementary image on the translucent image, and obtains a third image which remains an outline of the complementary image.

  • Patent number: 11305797
Abstract: In order to position a set of one or more tools supported by a railway intervention vehicle progressing on a railway track, data is received characterising a curvilinear abscissa of a spatial indexation marker, a positioning of the spatial indexation marker with respect to a reference line of the railway track, and coordinates of points or lines of interest in a two-dimensional reference system. Transposition matrix cameras acquire transposition bitmap images in a spatial reference system of the transposition system. An odometer acquires progression data of the transposition system. Then the spatial indexation marker is identified as a function of the progression data and curvilinear abscissa data, to determine data characteristic of the spatial indexation marker and the reference line in the spatial reference system of the transposition chassis, and to calculate transposed coordinates of the points or lines of interest.

Abstract: A higher coding efficiency for coding a significance map indicating positions of significant transform coefficients within a transform coefficient block is achieved by the scan order by which the sequentially extracted syntax elements indicating, for associated positions within the transform coefficient block, as to whether at the respective position a significant or insignificant transform coefficient is situated, are sequentially associated to the positions of the transform coefficient block, among the positions of the transform coefficient block depends on the positions of the significant transform coefficients indicated by previously associated syntax elements. Alternatively, the first-type elements may be context-adaptively entropy decoded using contexts which are individually selected for each of the syntax elements dependent on a number of significant transform coefficients in a neighborhood of the respective syntax element, indicated as being significant by any of the preceding syntax elements.

  • Patent number: 11284106
Abstract: An encoder calculates an indication to a previous reference picture having temporal identity of zero. The encoder creates a first set of indicators to the previous reference picture, to all reference pictures in a first reference picture set of the previous reference picture, and to all pictures following the previous reference picture in decoding order and precede the current picture in decoding order. The encoder sets a flag for picture order count cycle, when a long term reference picture (LTRP) has least significant bits (LSBs) of a picture order count, for which more than one picture in the first set share same value of the LSBs of picture order count as the LTRP. The decoder obtains LSB of a picture order count for a LTRP in a reference picture set of the current picture. The decoder concludes non-compliant bitstream based on indications provided by the flag.
