  • Patent number: 9129655
Abstract: Methods and systems for compressing video content are presented. The methods and systems include analyzing a sequence of media frames stored in the memory device and calculating a displacement level of each of the media frames. The displacement level indicates how different each of the media frames is to a previous media frame. The sequence of media frames is divided into a plurality of cuts where each cut ends at a media frame having a substantially high displacement level. Frames to be removed from the sequence of media frames are identified in each cut based upon the frame's displacement level. The identified frames are then removed.

  • Patent number: 9113196
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing a video signal using inter-viewpoint prediction are disclosed. The video signal processing method includes acquiring a type of a current block, acquiring a depth inter-view prediction flag according to the current block type, acquiring color information of a reference block corresponding to the current block when the current block is encoded using depth inter-view prediction according to the depth inter-view prediction flag, and predicting color information of the current block using the color information of the reference block. The video signal processing method performs inter-viewpoint prediction using depth information, such that a motion vector of a macroblock can be induced from a decoder using such depth information. Therefore, a motion vector of the macroblock is not separately coded. In addition, the video signal processing method uses a flag that indicates whether to perform inter-viewpoint prediction using depth information.

  • Patent number: 9098112
Abstract: The exemplary illustrative non-limiting technology herein enables 3D viewing on conventional 2D displays such as home television sets by tracking a person's viewpoint. Detecting a player's viewpoint movement to change the viewing of the displayed object gives the illusion that the object is physically present in three-dimensional space. Viewpoint movement detection can provide collision-related game logic benefits such as allowing a player to dodge projectiles, giving a game character an ability to “see” the player when not behind line-of-sight obstacles, and other advantages.
