Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a detecting means for detecting a plurality of boundaries of layers in a tomographic image of a subject's eye, and identifying means for identifying the kinds of the detected boundaries on the basis of the characteristics of the layer between the detected boundaries and those of the vitreous body of the subject's eye.
Abstract: An involuntary action adjusted by the accommodation of the crystalline lens of the eye provides the data to the embedded algorithm to get the new image. Instead of the user performing a voluntary action to control the embedded algorithm, an involuntary action by the user is used to control the embedded algorithm allowing the user to automatically adjust the Plane of Depth (POD) for a Light Field Photograph (LFP) image or an eyeglass image. The adjustment of eyeglass image is used by an accommodation system to control the mechanical system of lenses in an eyeglass to automatically focus the glasses over a range of PODs. In addition, a voluntary far/near button can be used manually to adjust the POD for both the LFP image and the eyeglass adjustment. The variation of the crystalline thickness to adjust the focus of nearby and distant objects is called accommodation.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for encoding and decoding layered video where the non-temporal enhancement layers and their respective temporal enhancement layers, comply with a scalable video coding standard or technology, and the base layer and its respective temporal enhancement layers does not comply with the same scalable video coding standard or technology. A Video Parameter Set that comprises information about the relationship of layers includes a syntax element indicative of the derivation mechanism for a temporal layer associated with a NAL unit coded in a first coding technology, for example HEVC. For one value of the syntax element, the derivation mechanism is to set the temporal layer of the base layer NAL unit to the value coded in the header of the encapsulating NAL unit, which can be an HEVC NAL unit. For another value, the derivation mechanism is to imply the value of temporal base layer for the first NAL unit.

Abstract: In an image encoding device, a variable-length encoder encodes a quantized macro blocks and generates encoded data. The variable-length encoder forcefully encodes an end macro block of a line group composed of macro block lines, as a non-skipped macro block. Each of macro blocks which are to be encoded subsequent to the end macro block is encoded as a non-skipped macro block until an amount of codes of the encoded data including the end macro block reaches the smallest unit of transmission of the transmission part. As a result, the encoded data including the end macro block is transmitted to the image decoding device by the smallest unit of transmission.
Abstract: Techniques are provided for viewing windows for video streams. A video stream from a video capture device is accessed. Data that describes movement or position of a person is accessed. A viewing window is placed in the video stream based on the data that describes movement or position of the person. The viewing window is provided to a display device in accordance with the placement of the viewing window in the video stream. Motion sensors can detect motion of the person carrying the video capture device in order to dampen the motion such that the video on the remote display does not suffer from motion artifacts. Sensors can also track the eye gaze of either the person carrying the mobile video capture device or the remote display device to enable control of the spatial region of the video stream shown at the display device.

Abstract: An in-vehicle image recognizer effectively detects a moving object from an image even when a lens has grime. In a detection sensitivity adjustor (50) which adjusts detection sensitivity to be increased according to a white turbidity level (U), the detection sensitivity of a vehicle detector (70) (image recognition application execution unit), which detects the other vehicle (6) (moving object) existing in the surrounding area of a vehicle (5) with a predetermined detection sensitivity from the image obtained by an imaging unit (10) disposed in the vehicle (5) to observe the surrounding area of the vehicle (5) through a lens (12) and convert the light signal of the observed surrounding area of the vehicle (5) into an image signal, is corrected based on the attachment level M of the attached matter such as dirt or water drops to the lens (12), which is calculated by an attachment level calculator (26).

Abstract: In one example, a video coder is configured to code information indicative of whether view synthesis prediction is enabled for video data. When the information indicates that view synthesis prediction is enabled for the video data, the video coder may generate a view synthesis picture using the video data and code at least a portion of a current picture relative to the view synthesis picture. The at least portion of the current picture may comprise, for example, a block (e.g., a PU, a CU, a macroblock, or a partition of a macroblock), a slice, a tile, a wavefront, or the entirety of the current picture. On the other hand, when the information indicates that view synthesis prediction is not enabled for the video data, the video coder may code the current picture using at least one of intra-prediction, temporal inter-prediction, and inter-view prediction without reference to any view synthesis pictures.

Abstract: A system and method automatically detect traffic violations on roadways or portions thereof that are restricted for use only by permitted vehicles. The system comprises a controller, a vehicle sensor, and a camera. The vehicle sensor detects vehicle movement on a restricted roadway. Data from the camera and the vehicle sensor are analyzed by the controller to detect a vehicle traveling on the restricted roadway, to gather static vehicle information to determine whether the detected vehicle is permitted to use the restricted roadway, and to determine whether movements of the detected vehicle on the restricted roadway constitute a violation of traffic rules in effect on the roadway. The method captures at least one image of a vehicle on a region of the roadway, detects a vehicle in the region, collects vehicle movement information, and detects a violation of traffic rules in effect using at least the collected vehicle movement information.

Abstract: To generate a warning that a stereoscopic image sequence has been synthesized from a 2D image sequence, a video processor correlates left-eye image data and right-eye image data to identify any sustained temporal offset between the left-eye and right-eye image data. A measure of sustained correlation between a measured spatial distribution of horizontal disparity and a spatial model can also be used to generate the warning.
