Abstract: A concrete building block for masonry block walls is formed with first, second and third spaced parallel rectangular face shells, where the second face shell is intermediate the first and third face shells. First and second vertical end cross webs connect the first and second face shells and first and second spaced intermediate vertical cross webs connect the second and third face shells. Insulating inserts include end protrusions extending outwardly at the top edge thereof to fit into notches of the cross webs and include cutouts to accommodate mortar crumbs. The inserts further include longitudinal notches along the entire bottom edges and longitudinal notches along the entire top edges wherein said longitudinal notches along a bottom edge are dimensioned to mate with longitudinal notches along a top edge of neighboring ones of the insulating inserts creating an overlap that serves to (i) insulate against temperature transfer and (ii) provide a sound barrier.
Abstract: The veneer tie having a first end portion for being disposed in an outer wythe. A first leg and second leg of the veneer tie are vertically arranged, and both the first leg and second leg have a first transverse cross section that are asymmetrical. A first arm and a second arm of the veneer tie are horizontally arranged. The first arm and the second arm include a second transverse cross section. The second transverse cross section is different than the first transverse cross section of the first leg and second leg. A first end of the first arm and a first end of the second arm is adjoined to the first end portion. A joint portion adjoins a second end of the first arm and a second end of the second arm to an upper end of the first leg and an upper end of the second leg, respectively.
Abstract: A storm protection system for a window or door unit located in a wall opening and having an outer frame, the system including at least one protective panel fit within the outer frame and wall opening, at least one pair of brackets connected to the outer frame at opposing sides of the wall opening and spaced from the front surface of the panel a first distance, at least one force distribution body with at least one alignment structure on the front surface and spaced from the rear surface a second distance that is greater than the first distance, at least one elongated flexible restraint extending between and connected to the at least two brackets is received by the alignment structure and when tensioned forces the at least one force distribution body against the at least one panel which forces the at least one panel against the window or door unit.
Abstract: Fastener systems for roofing systems are disclosed for fastening a fabric, mesh, or base sheet to a roof deck prior to application of a liquid applied roof coating. The fastening assemblies may be attached to an uncleaned or unprimed roof deck and a fabric is laid atop the fasteners. The fasteners secure the fabric using mechanical binding or chemical bonding without penetrating or dimpling the fabric.
Abstract: Refractory anchoring devices include a main body and a mounting feature for mounting to a thermal vessel. The main body has the shape of two end-to-end Y's forming a central segment, two branch segments extending from each end of the central segment, and an extension segment extending from each of the four branch segments, to collectively form four unenclosed cell openings that are each semi-hexagonal in shape. Some embodiments include four reinforcement segments with each one extending into a respective cell opening, four voids with each one extending through respective adjacent branch and extension segments, an underbody gap formed under the central segment for refractory interlinking between cell openings, and/or a single stud-welding stud for the mounting feature.
