  • Patent number: 11794057
Abstract: An exercise apparatus comprises a frame with a chamber having a piston slidable between first and second cavity ends of the chamber, and a cable assembly for pulling the piston by an applied force towards the second cavity end to cause a vacuum in the chamber to exert a resistance force on the cable assembly. A cable subassembly extends between first and second parts of the cable assembly, comprising a pulley wheel attached to the first part and a cable extending around the pulley wheel having first and second cable ends. Stoppers on the cable ends engage a bearing member to restrain movement of at least the first cable end when the second cable end is pulled relative to the pulley wheel. Releasable connector means connect the cable ends to the second part to allow a user to choose a magnitude of the resistance force opposing the applied force.

  • Patent number: 11786777
Abstract: An exercise machine includes a frame which contains a flywheel which rotates around an axle coupled to spools. Original cords are wrapped around the spools and extend to upper pulleys on the frame. The original cords are coupled to adapter cords which extend to lower pulleys on the exercise machine. By pulling the adapter cords, the spools are rotated which causes the flywheel to spin. The adapter cords are released and springs retract the original cords so they can be pulled again. The lower pulleys lower the exit position of the adapter cords so that the exercise machine can be used with hand paddles to simulate swimming, paddle shafts to simulate paddling movements, exercise handles to simulate upper body functional exercises, or ankle straps to simulate lower body functional exercises.

  • Patent number: 11759673
Abstract: A treadmill has a front or rear set of pulleys and a looped running belt. The pulleys rotate with the movement of the belt, e.g., when a user walks, jogs, or runs on the treadmill. The pulleys are mounted on a rotating roller tube so that the roller tube rotates with the pulleys. The roller tube is mounted on a stationary shaft using bearings on each side and a one-way device that allows the pulleys to rotate in one direction. The rotation direction corresponds to the movement of the top of the belt from the front to the rear of the treadmill. The one-way device prevents the pulleys from rotating in the opposite direction, preventing the top of the belt from moving from the rear of the treadmill to the front. The one-way device may be a sprag clutch. The treadmill may be a motor-less, curved treadmill.
