Patent number: 4589632Abstract: A locking mechanism has a threaded housing mounted in one member of a jack/vehicle assembly. The housing has a locking pin which threadably moves through the housing and extends into a socket in the other member off center from the jack swivel point thus locking the jack in position and providing support for the trailer. The locking pin has a taper at its extension end which provides positive locking pin engagement with the socket and compensates for wear. Extension and retraction of the locking pin is performed by screwing the pin into or out of the housing. The locking pin is retained in the housing through the use of retaining pins thus obstructing disassembly of the locking mechanism and possible loss of the locking pin in the field.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1983Date of Patent: May 20, 1986Inventor: Larry D. Patent number: 4588178Abstract: A hold-down device comprising first and second supports which are secured to an hydraulic shear or the like against vertical movement. First and second shafts are slidably received by the first and second supports and have a hold-down shoe secured to the lower ends thereof. An elongated member is secured and extends between the upper ends of the first and second supports and has a first tubular member slidably mounted thereon. An inclined member has one end secured to the first shaft and its other end secured to the upper end of an upstanding post which is secured to the hold-down shoe. A second tubular member is slidably mounted on the inclined member and is interconnected to the first tubular member by a web. A handle pivotally connects the post and the web so that movement of the handle in one direction causes the hold-down shoe to be lowered and so that pivotal movement of the handle in a direction opposite to the said one direction will cause the hold-down shoe to be raised.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1985Date of Patent: May 13, 1986Assignee: Center Engineering, Inc.Inventor: Leonard Harrison

Patent number: 4588176Abstract: The work tray assembly includes a rectangular PVC board from which a first pair of slots, for the insertion of a splice platform, has been perforated. A second pair of slots, orthogonal to the first, is adapted to accommodate an elongated splice housing. A plurality of arcuately-shaped, flexible plastic clips are mounted in the board for the retention of cladded glass fibers. The board also supports at least one pipelike ring for grasping a vial containing chemicals required to strip and clean the cladded glass fibers. A pair of cable clamps positioned on opposite sides of the board at the extremities of a virtual center line drawn through the first pair of slots positions and supports fiber optic cables brought onto the work tray assembly and across the platform in anticipation of a stripping, cleaning and splicing procedure.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1984Date of Patent: May 13, 1986Assignee: GTE Products CorporationInventor: John J. Patent number: 4582309Abstract: A tool for accurately positioning a flat pack multi-lead component to a PCB during soldering of the leads. The tool has a double function in providing both an accurate location for the board and the component while re-flow soldering takes place. It also provides fool-proof orientation of the component. The basis of the tool is four locating pins which locate at the corners of a square flat pack component but each pin is accurately made and positioned to locate the end leads of the two adjacent sides with a small clearance from the moulded body itself. This takes account of variations in the moulded bodies. One corner of the square body is chamfered and one of the pins is similarly shaped to ensure correct orientation.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1984Date of Patent: April 15, 1986Assignee: Plessey Overseas LimitedInventors: Michael Moxon, Thomas E. Patent number: 4565358Abstract: A plate positioning apparatus which determines the position of a plate workpiece for a processing machine by an aligning member which moves in the X-axis direction and an aligning member which moves in the Y-axis direction. The Y-axis aligning member is provided with a movable retainer which retracts toward the Y-axis side when it comes in contact with the X-axis side aligning member and comprises a base part and an extension member which is remountable on the base part. The aligning member for the X-axis is provided on its upper surface with at least one aligning bar which contacts the plate workpiece. The aligning members for both directions of X and Y axes are adapted to be guided by the base frame and their moving strokes are controlled by position detecting switches provided in the base frame, the base frame being closed at its upper side by the cover plate. Patent number: 4565357Abstract: A quick-acting clamping device for clamping tools or workpieces in machine tools comprises a piston which is slidable transversely to the clamping direction and which acts on a toggle mechanism which in turn moves a clamping piece. A pressure plate upon which the toggle mechanism acts is displaceable in the clamping direction in a housing which contains the transverse piston. The fluid under pressure which acts on the transverse piston to activate the toggle mechanism also acts directly on the pressure plate to assist in clamping. Because of the assisting force produced by the pressure plate it is possible for the transverse piston to move the members of the toggle mechanism from starting positions in which they lie at large angles to the clamping direction, that is with a big angular displacement from their dead-center position, in which they initially exert only a small force on the clamping piece.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1983Date of Patent: January 21, 1986Assignee: Optima Spanntechnik GmbHInventors: Bernhard Stahl, Horst Bohm

Patent number: 4561636Abstract: The fence post driving assembly is used with a vehicle having a draw bar and a three point lift arm mechanism having two outer lift arms and a safety link. The assembly is used to drive a fence post into the ground and comprises a first pulley member mounted on the draw bar of the vehicle and a second pulley member mounted at a location intermediate the two outer lift arms of the vehicle. The lift arms are movable between upper and lower working positions. A post engagement member directly contacts the top of the fence post to be driven into the ground. A line such as a cable extends from the post engagement member, around the first and second pulley members and then is anchored at the other end thereof at a location near the draw bar. The post engagement member has a lateral supporting structural configuration effective to prevent bending of a fence post when a driving force is exerted downwardly on the top of the fence post.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1983Date of Patent: December 31, 1985Inventors: Roger Moreland, William Moreland
