  • Patent number: 4742991
Abstract: A jack structure, particularly an improved lying type of jack structure, has the front end of the hydraulic cylinder of the jack fixed in place with an arch-shaped plate. When the extension rod of the hydraulic cylinder is driven, the pulling rods raise the lifting arm, and the extension rod generates downward and upward components of force. By means of the arch-shaped plate and a holding member on the tail portion of the cylinder, the joint parts on the front and rear ends of the hydraulic cylinder are not pulled apart to become disengaged by the one-way stress which would cause a leak.

  • Patent number: 4743002
Abstract: An improved mechanism for automatically clamping a die tool to a press bed or press ram. The automatic die clamp is self-locking and self-compensating to provide a failsafe operation in the clamped position and thus the mechanism retains the clamp in the clamped position. A ramp is provided to guide the movement of a wedge which wedge movement controls the movement of a clamping member. A spring bias may be provided as an optional feature to assist in the self-locking. Release of the clamp requires the application of an external force to overcome the locking of the teeth.

  • Patent number: 4736506
Abstract: A device is provided for use in installing a resilient replacement hand grip onto the handle portion of a manual implement particularly such as a baseball or softball bat after a worn grip has been removed. The installation device comprises a circular array of elongated leaf-type guide springs suspended from an upper platform to define a cylindrical column for supporting a sleeve-shaped replacement hand grip in a partially radially expanded condition. The knob end of the bat adjacent the handle portion is inserted downwardly through a central opening in the upper platform and further through the guide spring cylindrical column to a stop position seated within an aligned recess in a lower platform positioned slightly below the guide spring column and the supported hand grip. • Patent number: 4726577
Abstract: The six sides or angles surfaces of a part are automatically machined on a CNC or NC machining center by securing the part to a fixture plate which is mounted on a platen supported by a U-shaped frame for tilting movement between horizontal and vertical positions. The frame is secured to a pallet of the machining center, and the platen is tilted in response to rotation of twin ball screws driven by a wrench transferred to the spindle of the machining center by an automatic tool changer. In each position, the platen is precisely located and clamped to the frame by a plurality of units each including a shot pin which has a threaded end portion for engaging a corresponding nut within the platen in response to rotation by a dual-torque wrench also transferred to the spindle by the tool changer.

  • Patent number: 4726556
Abstract: Across the surface and around two opposite sides of a table top are looped two elastic hold down straps. A third elastic hold down strap is looped around these two straps and the other two sides of the table top. Lips grip an edge of the table top. The table top is slidably mounted on rails held parallel by two parallel supports each pivotally connected to ends of arms. The arms are pivotally connected at their other ends to a shaft. Upper ends of table legs are pivotally connected to the shaft. Interspaced between arms and legs on the shaft are spacers and a tube through which the shaft passes. When a cap nut is secured on one end of the shaft and a knob is screwed onto threads at the other end of the shaft, arms and legs are pressed together preventing them from pivoting around the shaft and locking the table top in a chosen position of height and inclination. Springs connecting arms and legs bias arms to rise to a vertical position when the knob is loosened.

  • Patent number: 4723766
Abstract: An improved chucking system for workpieces in machine tools has a series of vacuum pods selectively activated for supporting the workpiece in an elevated position relative to the machine tool work table to assure a safe degree of clearance for a cutting tool projecting through the workpiece. The support pods form a grid-like array about the work table in a flush-fit relation to the surface of the work table. Pods have pressure-regulated (air and vacuum) configuration that allows selected pods may be raised above the table surface to support the workpiece and retains the latter in position by applying vacuum to its undersurface. A selected subset of pods to be active and raised while the machining of a particular workpiece is being carried out, without offering any interference to the operation of the cutting tool.
