  • Patent number: 7781902
Abstract: A generator set. In one embodiment, the generator set includes an internal combustion engine, a DC generator, one or more battery cells, and an inverter. The DC generator is coupled to the engine and produces direct current (“DC”) electricity. The battery cells discharge stored DC electricity and can be recharged using DC electricity from the DC generator. The inverter is electrically connected to the DC generator and to the battery cells. The inverter converts DC electricity produced by the DC generator and DC electricity discharged from the one or more battery cells to alternating current (“AC”) electricity. The AC electricity is available for use by a load.

  • Patent number: 7777362
Abstract: When planning and setting up wind power installations, the visual detractions to be expected on the part of the wind power installation on the environment play an increasingly important part in approval and acceptance. The shadow casting caused by the wind power installation on the adjoining properties is often perceived by the residents as being very troublesome. A wind power installation is provided by means of which shadow casting regulation is improved. That is achieved by a method of operating a wind power installation wherein a first light intensity is detected in a region of direct light irradiation and a second light intensity is detected in a shadowed region, and wherein the wind power installation is shut down if the difference between the first light intensity and the second light intensity is greater than a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 7763988
Abstract: An air turbine power propulsion engine for use in powering a vehicle, i.e. automobile or plane, or an electrical generator. The engine is housed in a generally circular housing that features a tapered air intake end and a downstream exhaust end. Within the housing is a generator, first and second drive shafts, and at least one compressor. The at least one compressor is driven by the first drive shaft, while a series of turbine blades drive the second drive shaft which in turn drives the generator. The invention incorporates into the engine a differential gear mechanism to accelerate and compress the air that enters the engine, where the gear mechanism drives the compressor at a higher speed than the turbine blades. A second such mechanism, alone or in combination with the gear mechanism, lies in the use of an air recirculation duct works.

  • Patent number: 7759812
Abstract: A large pressure differential is created between the leading face of the rotor blade and the trailing face of the rotor blade during the power cycle which creates a large amount of force that rotates the rotor blade about the central shaft. In some embodiments, gaps are provided between the inside edge of the rotor blade and a stationary shaft which vents wind collected by the rotor blade during certain portions of the rotation cycle. The vented wind increases the pressure on the trailing face of the rotor blades during the return cycle to further assist in the efficiency of this system. In addition, an integrated power plant is disclosed that provides a source of renewable energy in the form of a cross-flow wind turbine that includes solar cells mounted on south facing surfaces of the stators. The stators can be used to store liquids and fuels generated by the renewable energy sources.

  • Patent number: 7728451
Abstract: A wind power generation system includes: a wind turbine in which at least one blade is mounted on an axis; a generator for generating multiphase alternating current power by rotation of the axis; and a multiphase power conversion device for performing PWM-control for adjustment and output of generated power of the generator. With the configuration, the PWM-control provides for each phase a control paused period in which no overlap occurs. Thus, the pulse density between the control period and the control paused period of other phases is low, thereby generating high and low density in an inter-phase pulse.
