Abstract: An Orthogonal Time Frequency Space Modulation (OTFS) modulation scheme that maps data symbols, along with optional pilot symbols, using a symplectic-like transformation such as a 2D Fourier transform and optional scrambling operation, into a complex wave aggregate and be backward compatible with legacy OFDM systems, is described. This wave aggregate may be processed for transmission by selecting portions of the aggregate according to various time and frequency intervals. The output from this process can be used to modulate transmitted waveforms according to various time intervals over a plurality of narrow-band subcarriers, often by using mutually orthogonal subcarrier “tones” or carrier frequencies. The entire wave aggregate may be transmitted over various time intervals. At the receiver, an inverse of this process can be used to both characterize the data channel and to correct the received signals for channel distortions, thus receiving a clear form of the original data symbols.

  • Patent number: 11575690
Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to an installable mutable intelligent security package (“IMISP”) and security system in Internet of Things (“IoT”) networks. According to one aspect disclosed herein, an IoT device can receive an IMISP. The IMISP can scan a plurality of memory locations of the memory for an IMISP operating system process. In response to finding the IMISP operating system process in a memory location of the plurality of memory locations, the IMISP and the IMISP operating system process can conduct a mutual authentication process. In response to a successful result of the mutual authentication process, the IMISP can self-install in the memory location. The IMISP can then scan the memory of the IoT device for an anomaly. In response to finding the anomaly, the IMISP can generate report that includes information associated with the anomaly.

  • Patent number: 11552901
Abstract: A durability assessment system may receive a request, from a computing system, for a durability index describing an entity. The durability assessment system may determine the durability index based on information about the resource usage by the entity, such as a resource availability score or a resource allocation score. The durability assessment system may compare the obtained resource availability score and resource allocation score to ranges associated with a set of durability indices. Based on the comparison, the durability assessment system may determine a durability index for the entity. The durability index may indicate an ability of the entity to return accessed resources. In some cases, the durability assessment system may provide the durability index to an allocation computing system that is configured to determine whether to grant access to resources based on the durability index.

  • Patent number: 11546267
Abstract: A method for determining a designated forwarder (DF) of a multicast flow, a device, and a system are disclosed. In an Ethernet virtual private network (EVPN) scenario, a customer edge (CE) device is connected to a plurality of provider edge (PE) devices in a dual-homed or multi-homed manner. A first PE device is any one of the plurality of PE devices. After determining that the CE device connected to an Ethernet link joins a multicast group of a multicast flow, the first PE device determines bandwidth occupation statuses of a plurality of Ethernet links included in an Ethernet segment (ES) to which the Ethernet link belongs, and then determines, as a DF of the multicast flow based on the multicast flow bandwidth occupation statuses of the plurality of Ethernet links, a PE device corresponding to an Ethernet link that occupies lowest multicast flow bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 11533259
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an approach for scaling the number of VNFs in a data center without scaling the number of control sessions between VNFs and a data center gateway. The approach includes opening a session between a VNF and a route server, rather than between the VNF and the gateway, when the VNF needs to send its connectivity information to the gateway. The VNF sends its connectivity information to the route server, and the route server forwards the connectivity information to the gateway. The gateway receives connectivity information of a plurality of VNFs in the data center from the route server rather than from each of the VNFs individually. The connectivity information is then used to send packets, by the gateway to a VNF, for processing. The packets are sent using three layers of networking: an underlay physical network, an overlay logical network, and a second overlay logical network.

  • Patent number: 11496599
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for utilizing control packets to manage flows by a smart network interface card (smartNIC). In one example, an accelerator of the smartNIC determines that a cache entry of a cache that is managed by the accelerator is a candidate for removal. The cache entry stores flow state of a particular flow. The accelerator generates a control packet that includes flow information of the particular flow that is formatted utilizing a particular header format, the flow information operable for generating a hash that indexes to the cache entry. The accelerator includes an instruction within the control packet that requests a programming data plane of the smartNIC to provide instructions for removing the cache entry from the cache. Upon receiving the control packet, the programming data plane generates and transmits a second instruction to the accelerator for removing the cache entry from the cache.

  • Patent number: 11489775
Abstract: Systems and methods of vertical auto-scaling a networking stack by adjusting the number of packet engines executing on a device are provided. A device intermediary to clients and servers executes first packet engines to process network traffic of a first set of connections. The device determines to adjust the number of packet engines executing on the device based on trigger parameters. The device activates second packet engines to process network traffic for a second set of connections. The device mirrors the network traffic from the first and second set of connections. The first packet engines reject the traffic from the second connections, and the second packet engines reject the traffic from the first connections. The device deactivates the first packet engines when the first connections timeout.

  • Patent number: 11489776
Abstract: A method for reassigning flows to cores in a multi-core network device includes receiving a packet flow and periodically determining a packet rate of the flow and the processing load on each of the worker cores. Unassigned flows are assigned to the least loaded core. If an assigned flow has a packet rate that exceeds a particular threshold proportion of the processing capacity of the currently assigned worker core, reassigning the flow to the lowest loaded worker core unless the resulting load would exceed the current load on the currently assigned worker core.

Abstract: Systems and methods for network traffic metering credit distribution and packet processing in a network device having multiple processing units are provided. According to an embodiment, management of multiple meters is distributed among multiple processing units of a network device. Each meter is implemented in a form of a master entry and a slave entry. Responsive to receipt by one of the processing units of a packet subject to rate-limiting by a meter, an action to be taken on the packet is made with reference to a slave entry managed by the processing unit based on available credit of the slave entry. When the action indicates the packet is to be passed: (i) credits associated with passing the packet are deducted from the available credit; and (ii) the packet is passed to a subsequent stage of packet processing; otherwise, the packet is dropped.
