  • Patent number: 10310718
Abstract: Enabling interaction with an external service feature via a productivity application is provided. Features in an application are oftentimes an integration of an external or third party service into the application. To enable access to a feature, such as for testing purposes, a secret globally unique identifier (GUID) is input into a designated interface of the application, and a request is sent to enable the external service feature, wherein the request provides an indication to provide resources to interact with the external service feature. The application receives the resources and enables interaction with the external service feature via the productivity application by providing an interface within the productivity application for interacting with the external service feature. Various GUIDs may be used to enable different features. Further, another GUID may be used to disable interaction with the external service feature.

  • Patent number: 10303252
Abstract: An electronic device has a home button that is available in a plurality of different contexts to dismiss user interfaces in response a first type of input. The device detects a first input of the first type directed to a displayed first user interface. In response, the device determines whether user interface tactile outputs are enabled. If so, the device performs a first operation and provides a corresponding first tactile output. If not, the device performs the first operation and forgoes providing at least a portion of the corresponding first tactile output. After performing the first operation, the device detects a second input of the first type on the home button. In response, the device performs a second operation that is associated with the home button and provides tactile output that is associated with activation of the home button, regardless of whether user interface tactile outputs are enabled.

  • Patent number: 10303346
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes cursor control, display position change, and range selection units. When switching operation for switching to a selection mode for selecting characters included in a display region displayed in a display unit is detected, the cursor control unit displays another cursor different from a cursor displayed in the display region. When moving operation for moving the display region is detected in the selection mode, the display position change unit maintains one cursor at an original display position or a certain position near the original display position in the display unit, and moves a display position of the display region together with the other cursor in accordance with the moving operation. The range selection unit determines, to be a selection range, a region between the one cursor and the other after the movement of the display position of the display region by the display position change unit.

  • Patent number: 10228765
Abstract: An electronic device: while displaying a user interface, detects an input sequence that includes detecting an increase in a characteristic intensity of a contact on a home button. In response, the device determines whether the increase is above a first intensity threshold and whether a change in the characteristic intensity proximate to a time when the characteristic intensity increases above the first intensity threshold has a first or a second value for an intensity-change metric. If the increase is above the threshold and the change has the first value, the device performs a first operation that changes the user interface displayed on the display; and generates a first discrete tactile output that corresponds to the increase. If the increase is above the threshold and the change has the second value, the device performs the first operation and generates a second discrete tactile output that corresponds to the increase.
