Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable medium for a visual file manager are described. For example, operation of a visual file manager on a graphical user interface (GUI) of a computer system is described in which a folder in a folder hierarchy of the computer system is graphically represented by a canvas of the visual file manager, the canvas being configured to provide zooming capabilities (e.g., zoom in, zoom out) for the graphical representation of the folder, and contents of the folder being configured to be individually and graphically modified within the canvas. Collaborative work is enabled by allowing access to the graphical representation of the folder to multiple users. A folder within the linked folder can be represented by a rectangular panel on the canvas. Multiple folders can be graphically represented by multiple panels on the canvas, where each panel can be individually and graphically modified based on user preferences.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a receiving unit, an obtaining unit, and a translating unit. The receiving unit receives a document as a target to be translated. The obtaining unit obtains a non-target region from the document, the non-target region being a region that is not a target to be translated. The translating unit does not perform translation on the non-target region but performs translation on a portion other than the non-target region.

Abstract: In some embodiments, an electronic device presents representations of items of content available for playback on the electronic device. The representations are optionally presented in a horizontally-scrollable row. In response to a user input to horizontally scroll the row of representations, in some embodiments, the electronic device presents an animation of moving a cropping frame/border between respective representations to scroll the presented representations. In some embodiments, an electronic device presents representations of auxiliary content related to an item of content in a product page user interface of the item of content. In some embodiments, an electronic device presents representations of items of content in accordance with content consumption history of the user account. In some embodiments, an electronic device presents representations of bonus content items associated with a series of episodic content.

Abstract: A scoreboard for displaying scores in a sporting event or other recreational event is disclosed herein. The scoreboard comprises a base member, a support member, a plurality of cards and a ring member. The support member is disposed above the base member. The plurality of cards is arranged in at least three stacks along the length of said support member. Each of said cards defining at least one fastening aperture and indicia. The ring member is threaded through each of the fastening apertures in the cards and the support member. The scoreboard allows a scorekeeper to accurately display the score, and easily observe the movement of players to either side of a court. The scoreboard is simple in construction, easy to use, and eliminates the need of handling two large cards side by side.

Abstract: Improving performance of a dialogue-based tutor includes receiving feedback from a user associated with a natural language interaction of the user with a dialogue-based tutoring (DBT) system. The DBT system includes training data and domain-specific content. One or more feedback categories is presented to the user based upon the feedback. A selection of a feedback category from among the one or more feedback categories is received from the user. A feedback candidate is generated based upon the feedback and the selected feedback category. The feedback candidate is indicative of a potential change in one or more of the training data and the domain-specific content based upon the feedback.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media for clustering media items in a semantic space to generate theme-based folders that organize media items by content theme. In particular, the disclosed systems can access media items that are stored in an original folder structure. The disclosed systems can generate content-based tags for each media item in a collection of media items. Based on the generated tags, the disclosed systems can map the collection of media items to a semantic space and cluster the collection of media items. The disclosed systems determine themes for the clusters based on the generated tags. The disclosed systems can present a media item navigation graphical user interface comprising the collection of media items organized by themes. The disclosed system can present the media item navigation graphical user interface without altering the original folder structure.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, heavy document object model (DOM) elements in a heavy web page are removed directly from a DOM tree subsequent to a request being received to navigate to another web page but before the web browser actually navigates to that other web page. In one example embodiment, the heavy DOM elements are deleted from the previous page during an ‘onbeforeunload’ event using a scripting language such as Javascript, to ensure that the render of the next page starts faster.

Abstract: A system for a multimodal educational display, including a wireless network of sensors and actuators connected to a control system, wherein the control system is configured to gather information through said sensors, analyse data and control the multimodal display by providing action through said actuators based on measurable features of a group of people visiting the multimodal display, said actions being provided in a way that facilitates immediate understanding of an abstract concept from natural sciences and establishes new mental bindings that stimulate the imagination. The invention is further related to an educational method for a multimodal educational display realized in such a system.

Abstract: An electronic device: detects an input on a respective button. Tactile outputs are generated to indicate that the respective button has been activated in place of a mechanical switch that detects activation of the respective button when the respective button is mechanically compressed. In response to detecting the input on the respective button: in accordance with a determination that the input meets activation criteria, the electronic device provides a first tactile output with a first tactile output pattern that includes: between 0.5 and 4 cycles of an oscillation of one or more tactile output generators relative to corresponding neutral positions of the one or more tactile output generators. The oscillation of the one or more tactile output generators occurs at a frequency between 80 Hz and 400 Hz. In accordance with a determination that the input does not meet the activation criteria, the electronic device forgoes providing the first tactile output.

Abstract: A system and method are provided that incorporate subjects or subject lines into instant messaging sessions or conversations on a mobile device. During an instant messaging session, the user is provided with an option to specify a subject for at least the current portion of the session or for the entire session. The subject is proposed to the other users in the session, who can accept, ignore or modify the subject at their end. Multiple subjects can be specified for a single conversation if desired, and the subjects can be displayed with the contact in a message list. The instant messaging sessions may then be searched using search tools that are typically used for search email and other data messages.

Abstract: Several computerized tools, methodologies and data structures, according to embodiments of the present invention, are disclosed for collecting data for UX research and development directed to a product, process, and system and for developing personas and scenarios from the data for designing and for measuring the effectiveness of the product, process, and/or systems for use by the personas or real people. The tools, methodologies and data structures may be used individually or in sets.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and software are disclosed herein for graphically organizing content in a user interface to a software application. A visual representations of data objects is presented on a canvas in the user interface. User input is received indicative of at least a visual construct for arranging the visual representations of the data objects on the canvas and criteria for arranging the visual representations of the data objects with respect to the visual construct. Data associated with each of the data objects that relates to the criteria is then identified. Each of the visual representations of data objects are placed on the visual construct based on the data related to the criteria.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, a computer program product, and a system for generating a haptic signal representing a fabric composition. Embodiments of the present invention can be used to generate a haptic signal that is based on a user selection. For example, embodiments of the present invention can combine characteristic signals corresponding to a plurality of textiles to generate the haptic signal for output to a haptic device. Embodiments of the present invention can be used to recommend similar fabric compositions based upon similarity between a characteristic signal of a fabric composition and the haptic signal.

Abstract: A technique is described herein that receives a set of markup-language documents (e.g., HTML documents). The technique produces a set of object-model representations (VDOMs) based on the set of markup-language documents. For a given markup-language document, the producing operation involves accessing and processing information that is linked to the markup-language document. Each object-model representation also includes visual layout information that specifies a visual appearance of a page that would be produced upon display of the markup-language document by a browser application. The technique then generates transformation logic based on the set of markup-language documents and their corresponding VDOMs. The transformation logic, when applied to a new markup-language document, converts the new markup-language document into a corresponding VDOM without retrieving at least some information identified by links (if any) in the new markup-language document.
