  • Patent number: 4846682
Abstract: A method of fabricating "adjustment-free" artificial dentures and a jig therefor. A precise jaw model is formed by pouring soft plaster into the concave surface of a precise provisional denture formed by any conventional dental procedure. A plaster block is formed having a recess conforming to the actual shape of the provisional denture. The recess is filled with a synthetic resin compound and then the precise jaw model is moved into the recess to form a plenum defined by the concave surface in the recess and the convex surface of the precise jaw model. During polymerization, any excess synthetic resin compound spilling over from the plenum can escape into a relatively wide clearance between the precise jaw model and the plaster block thus enabling the plenum to retain its original shape.

  • Patent number: 4846884
Abstract: A process for producing cold-bonded or non-fired iron ore which introduced as a charge into a blast furnace. The iron ore, which contains 10 to 70% of particles having a diameter ranging from 1 to 10 mm, is molded into a block, preferably by a pressure-molding method, a shock-molding method or a packing-molding method with vibrations. The block is then cured or hardened. This hardened block is crushed to have a predetermined shape. An additive such as CaO, Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, or MgO may be added to the iron ore to adjust the basicity as a whole to 0.8 to 2.0. Moreover, the molding step is conducted so that the product may have a void volume equal to or less than 25%.

  • Patent number: 4844855
Abstract: A method for producing centrifugally cast concrete product including charging pumpable concrete into a cylindrical form and rotating the form to cast the concrete by a centrifugal force, in which the concrete contains a high water reducing agent, an air entraining agent and an inorganic fine powder, and 5.5 to 18.5% of air content, thereby considerably reducing the amount of discharged sludge and, in turn, the labor and expenses required for the disposal of sludge, while maintaining the strength of the product as same as or greater than that for conventional products, without the need for complex processes.

  • Patent number: 4832890
Abstract: A process for casting slip into a ceramic product using at least one unique casting mold. The casting mold is formed of a plurality of separate porous mold parts, each of which has a fluid-tight outer face, an inner molding surface and a plurality of channels therein. The mold parts are combined so that the inner molding surfaces define a molding cavity in the mold. The casting mold is positioned within a pressure container such that a space is established surrounding the casting mold within the pressure container. This space is in fluid communication with the molding cavity of the mold.

  • Patent number: 4826644
Abstract: A storage vault includes an inner tank entombed within a concrete outer tank by first erecting a pair of sidewall forms on a base plate to create an open-top enclosure. The wall forms are securely clamped together. A layer of concrete is then poured onto the base plate and the inner tank is lowered onto the layer of concrete. Concrete is poured into the enclosure to entomb the inner tank while the bottom layer of concrete is still wet. The inner tank is restrained by a pair of reinforced hold-down bars extending over the top of the enclosure and having a pair of downwardly extending hold-down tubes which contact the top of the inner tank. A back hold-down bar is forced downwardly by a chain which passes over the hold-down bar and is fastened to the base plate. After the concrete has set sufficiently, the hold-down bars and tubes are removed and the holes created by the hold-down tubes are filled with concrete.

  • Patent number: 4822438
Abstract: A process for insulating a rotational casting mold for use in a casting process for making a substantially even thickness fascia. The fascia is prepared by placement of a plastic powdered material into an enclosed mold, heating and agitating the mold for distributing the plastic powder on the mold surfaces to provide a substantially even thickness fascia part on the molding surface. The mold includes first mold surfaces for defining critical portions of the mold which correspond to the desired portions of the mold for forming the finished shape of the part by melting of the plastic powder to a uniform film along the surface. The mold also includes second mold surfaces defining non-critical portions of the mold where it is undesirable for plastic filming to occur.

  • Patent number: 4820458
Abstract: A tunnel having an inner surface and extending along an axis is lined with pumpable concrete having a predetermined hardening time and by a form having an annular inner wall and an axially movable front wall. Substantially equal sized batches of pumpable concrete are successively injected into the space through the movable front wall through a plurality of angularly equispaced ports therein. The batches are injected axially backwardly through the ports at such a rate that succeeding batches are injected through each port at a time interval that is substantially smaller than the concrete hardening time. The front wall is displaced forward at such a rate and the batches are sized such that each batch spreads over a predetermined axial and a predetermined angular distance, such that the latter is greater than the former.

  • Patent number: 4814132
Abstract: A process for preparing a thin film having a large area. A casting solution of a film-forming material and a solvent is fed to the surface of a liquid substrate immiscible with the solution by utilizing interfacial tension. Spontaneous spreading of the casting solution occurs across the surface of the liquid substrate and evaporation of the solvent produces a thin film on the liquid surface which is continuously collected. The feed of the casting solution to the surface of the substrate is at least either a material which shows selective wettability for the casting solution in preference to the liquid substrate or a structure capable of developing capillarity.
