  • Patent number: 5439192
Abstract: The present invention entails a hand-worn device for encircling the base portion of a person's hand and for elevating that hand and the associated fingers with respect to a keyboard. Forming a part of the device, is a pliable and elastic cuff that encircles the base of the hand and which includes a thumb opening through which the thumb of the hand projects. The cuff specifically encircles and wraps around the lower base of the hand and particularly wraps around and covers the heel of the hand. An attachable elevating pad that is relatively small is provided. The attachable elevating pad is designed to attach directly to the cuff in the area adjacent the heel of the hand.

  • Patent number: 5435514
Abstract: A hanger assembly for supporting a vertical load at a selected site flush mounted beneath the underside of a drop ceiling. Comprising the assembly is a pair of bars normally intersecting in T formation and mounted onto the T rails of a lattice framework supporting the individual ceiling panel at the selected site. The bars can be variably positioned so as to intersect at any selected site location and by means of a bracket are permanently secured together with a junction box at the underside of the intersection. The bracket in turn is connected for static loading to a depending chain attached to the building structure above the ceiling and adjustably rendered taut to a predetermined tension by means of a turnbuckle attachment. For supporting an attached load, the load bolts have flat heads with canted ends and depend through apertures in both the top wall and ears of the junction box.

  • Patent number: 5427348
Abstract: In a mounting for a gas turbine engine, the engine is pivotally mounted about its center of gravity to an aircraft support structure by means of a pair of radially outwardly extending trunnions. Each trunnion is connected to a central conical section of engine casing by means of an axially extending intermediate support member. The support member is secured to the downstream end of the conical casing section at an axial location offset from the trunnion. During operation distortion of the less stiff conical section is reduced by virtue of the resultant shear force distribution across the casing.

  • Patent number: 5427341
Abstract: A furniture base construction comprising a top plate mounted on a hollow, vertical standard, which is connected to a hollow, horizontal base. The connection between the vertical standard and the horizontal base forms a male-female joint with interlocking edges. The interlocking edges of the joint resist both rotational and lateral forces. The joint between the vertical standard and horizontal base, is maintained in compression by two tension members connecting an upper mounting plate secured within the vertical standard and a lower mounting plate secured within the horizontal base. Holes in the underside of the horizontal base, aligned with openings in the lower mounting plate, provide access to the tension members.

  • Patent number: 5427347
Abstract: An active isolator with a closed-loop feedback control system which uses an actuator in parallel spring relation to a static load spring to control the dynamic vibration transmitted from a vibrating device over a broad band frequency range. A collocated sensor is installed to sense the vibration of the isolated element and is amplified and fed, filtered and amplified again, reversed in sign and fed directly into the actuator. No external synchronizing signal or processor is needed. This simple active control is practical only where the combined series dynamic stiffness of the structure and vibrating body is much less than or much greater than the active mount's dynamic stiffness.

  • Patent number: 5425521
Abstract: A spacer device for a product employs a plurality of elongated first channel structures interconnected by a plurality of interconnecting support structures. The first channel structures have a pair of sidewalls, a top wall, a bottom wall and a pair of endwalls defining a channel interior. The support structures interconnect the first channel structures at spaced locations to hold them in spaced apart relation to form a first lattice having a plurality of openings to permit air circulation. Preferably, a similar second lattice is employed and is inverted and joined with the first lattice to create an endless channel. The support structures on each of the lattices are positioned to enclose the channel interiors on the other of the lattices. The spacer device may also be configured as a container with the lattice openings eliminated so that the spacer device forms an enclosure to contain products. Foam or fluid may be used to fill the channel interiors, if desired.

  • Patent number: 5425520
Abstract: On a side face of a corner bracket are formed a common insertion hole for a bolt, a stepped portion having a contact face and a contact edge which come to contact with a side wall of a strut and a side board of a shelf board, a strut projected portion engageable with an engaging hole defined in the side wall of the strut, and a board projected portion engageable with an engaging hole defined in the side board of the shelf board. The stepped portions are formed so as to extend entirely over a lower portion of the side face and to project outward. The side face of the corner bracket extends outside a line connecting between the strut projected portion and the board connecting portion formed thereon. Accordingly, the corner bracket is capable of reinforcing effectively a joint portion of the shelf board and the strut in a simple construction, and of preventing effectively an undesirable shaking of this joint portion.
