  • Patent number: 11159416
Abstract: Mobile devices executing applications utilize data services worldwide. Testing of the applications for networking issues is facilitated by utilizing a test network having proxy devices placed at different physical locations. A tester may use the test network to direct traffic to and from an application under test to one of the proxy devices. Using the proxy device, the traffic is then exchanged with a real-world network, such as a cellular data network, at the different locations. The tester may thus test operation of the application under test in real-world conditions at a variety of different physical locations. The system may include a proxy host device with an intermediate module to establish Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections and to capture VPN data, including VPN protocol data, session data, and other data. The VPN data may be provided to a network system to analyze performance of an application under test.

  • Patent number: 11133945
Abstract: Techniques for allowing online charging in cases where the online charging system (OCS) is unreachable or partially unreachable are discussed herein. For example, when the OCS cannot be reached and is unable to authorize the requested services, the services can be provided (e.g., a voice communication session established between two devices) without having to wait for authorization from the OCS. Upon completion of the communication session, the OCS is contacted to report the actual number of units used during the session so that the account of the subscriber can be adjusted. In some examples, the IMS tags the CDR provided to the billing system to indicate that the OCS was not able to authorize the communication session. In this way, the billing system is notified that the OCS is to be contacted so that the subscriber's balance can be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 11109256
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently determining when to transmit a beam report indicating a new beam for communicating with a base station after a current beam used for communications with the base station fails. In one example, after detecting beam failure, a user equipment (UE) may compare a quality of each candidate beam available for communicating with a base station to a beam identification threshold, and the UE may perform beam reporting based on the comparisons (e.g., refrain from transmitting a beam report if the quality of each of the candidate beams is lower than the beam identification threshold). In another example, after detecting beam failure, a UE may compare a quality of each candidate beam available for communicating with a base station to a beam detection threshold, and the UE may perform beam reporting based on the comparisons.

  • Patent number: 11089552
Abstract: An uplink power control method and a communications device are described. The method includes receiving, by a terminal device, power control indication information sent by a network device. The power control indication information indicates a first power offset set, and the first power offset set is any one of at least two power offset sets. The method further includes receiving, by the terminal device, a transmit power control (TPC) command sent by the network device. The TPC indicates a first offset in the first power offset set. The method includes determining, by the terminal device, uplink transmit power based on the first offset. Impact of cross interference is considered in determining the uplink transmit power. Thus, the method can meet requirements of future mobile communications and improve system performance.

  • Patent number: 11051293
Abstract: New radio download numerology allocation information may be obtained through master information block data, system information block data, radio resource control signals, or signals or a physical downlink numerology indication channel, and used along with a reference signal detected in a search space to obtain resource element positions in an antenna port reference signal in a resource block that belongs to a particular band slice according to a reference signal allocation scheme for a band slice numerology. A physical download control may then be decoded based upon one or more resource elements of the reference signal, allowing the connection of, e.g., an enhanced mobile broadband, massive machine type communication, or ultra-reliable/low-latency application to a communications network thereby. Alternatively, multiple physical downlink control channels may be blindly demodulated at each of a number calculated reference signal locations, and one channel selected based on passing a cyclic redundancy check.

  • Patent number: 11038650
Abstract: Configuration of downlink and uplink partial subframes in shared radio frequency (RF) spectrum is discussed. The various described aspects provide for different configurations for start and end transmissions from base stations and user equipments (UEs) when transmitting over partial subframes. With downlink initial partial subframes, a uniform puncturing may be used to reduce the number of resource elements (REs) available for downlink transmission without causing the base station to re-precode any of the data. Additional aspect for downlink partial subframe transmission allows for downlink control channels to identify multiple start points within the subframe at short downlink shared channel locations. On the uplink aspect, UEs may be informed with configurations for both full and partial subframe transmissions. The UE will select which configuration to use based on whether it will transmit on full or partial subframes.
