  • Patent number: 5021010
Abstract: A connector for electrical and mechanical connection to a coaxial cable wherein an inner lead of the cable is soldered to a ferrule which forms part of the connector. The ferrule is fabricated from a strip of material which includes a stripe of solder which will be adjacent an outer surface of such inner lead when the connector has been assembled so that the application of external heat will effect a solder joint between the ferrule and the inner lead.

  • Patent number: 5018989
Abstract: An electrical connector adapted to protect its signal circuits against power surges for at least ESD protection, having a conductive shell (60) with a transverse flange (64) on which are mounted components such as diodes (100) having first electrodes soldered thereto for grounding. A plurality of discrete straps (114) extend from second electrodes of the diodes to respective the contacts (20) and define circuits electrically connecting the contacts to the diodes. The dielectric housing (30) includes slots (46) along side surfaces within which intermediate strap sections 118 of the straps are retained, and a lateral flange (42) of the housing coextends along the transverse shell flange on each side and has recesses (54) within which the diodes are disposed, with channels (48) extending inwardly along the lateral flanges to the slots to retain transverse contact sections of said straps therein.

  • Patent number: 5017157
Abstract: A receptacle for cable connector with locking mechanism and electric shielding property, which includes a socket having a circular recessed portion at the front end for the setting therein of a metal hoop to hold a dielectric core. The metal hoop comprises a plurality of resilient strips projecting from its inner wall surface and disposed in a gap between the socket and the dielectric core so as to produce a retaining force onto the metal fastening tube of the cable plug which is inserted therein to reinforce the connection and improve electric shielding effect. An opening is made on the metal hoop so that a channel is defined between the metal hoop and the circular recessed portion of the socket for the fastening therein of the unitary hook portion of the metal fastening tube of the cable plug.

  • Patent number: 5013265
Abstract: An electrical connector 10 for mating blade-shaped members 114,130 includes a pair of subassemblies 12, each subassembly 12 comprising a housing member 14 and at least one first terminal element 50 secured to the inner surface of respective housing members 14, and means for securing subassemblies 12 together. Each first terminal element 50 includes body portion 52 and first and second arrays of contact arms 66,72 extending outwardly from opposite ends 62,64 thereof. In the assembled connector 10, the free ends 68,74 of contact arms 66,72 of respective terminal elements 50 extend inwardly toward each other defining first and second receptacles 110,112 for receiving first and second blade-shaped members respectively.

  • Patent number: 5011425
Abstract: A connector assembly (1,45;2) comprising a plug-in connector (1,45) and a socket connector (2). The plug-in connector (1,45) is provided with a lever-type locking element (5;15;25;40) having two free ends. At one free end an outwardly projecting pawl-type latching element (8;18;28;41) is disposed, while the other free end is designed as a gripping end (5';15';25';40'). The socket connector (2) is provided with a slot-type opening or recess (9), so that when the plug-in connector (1,45) is pushed into and mates with the socket connector (2), the latching element (8;18;28;41) engages the slot-type opening or recess (9), from the inside (2') of the socket connector (2), thereby latching the connectors (1,45;2).
