Abstract: A method for manufacturing an optical fiber preform and an optical fiber preform apparatus are provided which can reduce hydroxyl groups in an optical fiber preform to a sufficient level without requiring any special equipment or operating conditions. When an optical fiber preform is manufactured by the vapor-phase deposition method, the dehydrating treatment is performed on a porous core preform that is obtained by depositing glass microparticles. In this treatment, a dehydrating agent is supplied to a dehydration apparatus through a feeding pipe and a main feeding pipe made of a material having a water permeance factor of 1.0×10?11 g·cm/cm2·s·cmHg or less, thereby manufacturing an optical fiber preform.
Abstract: A device for use in connection with a multi-ply rolled paper holder to separate multi-ply rolled paper into distinct individual plies. The device includes at least one arm and at least one member. Each arm has an upper end portion that is configured to releasably couple to a multi-ply rolled paper holder and a lower end portion that couples to the at least one member. The overall length L of the arm may be of a fixed length or may be adjustable through a telescoping or sliding mechanism. Each member has two ends, and a top surface and a bottom surface. A helical winding head includes two guide rings, adjacently arranged along an axis center of the mandrel, and guide tubes arranged at equal intervals along a circumferential direction of the guide rings. The guide rings are switchable between a first state in which phase positions of the guide tubes are matched and a second state in which the phase positions of the guide tubes are evenly shifted in the circumferential direction by a phase switching structure. Tube exits of the guide tubes are arranged close in the first state.

Abstract: Continuous decoration process with a film of inked plastic material enclosing a structural shape and consisting of the following steps: perform continuous wrapping of the structural shape with inked film (4, 5), place under pressure the film wrapping the structural shape (7), keep the film under pressure, heat the structural shape wrapped in the film to the sublimation temperature and perform the sublimation (9, 10), automatically detach the exhausted film from the structural shape (11), cool the structural shape (12), and unload and accumulate the decorated structural shape devoid of film (13, 14).
Abstract: A film adhesion device includes a table carrying a semiconductor wafer, a pressing member (pressing roller) which presses a film (photoresist film) onto a surface side of the semiconductor wafer placed on the table, a bumper member provided on an outer peripheral side of the table and including a contact surface which is contacted by the pressing member when the pressing member presses the film, and an elevating support mechanism which supports the bumper member elevatably and positions the bumper member at a predetermined height level.
Abstract: A receiver base receives from below a front end portion of a label that is fed forward from a folded-back portion of an release paper and droops forward, so that the label is held in a predetermined forwardly and downwardly inclined posture. In a process of separating and feeding the label in such a state where part of a rear end of the label is joined and held onto the release paper, a suction head having a downward suction surface that is inclined forward and downward is brought closer to a top surface of the label being separated so as to suck the label.
Abstract: A process is provided for making a fastening element for absorbent sanitary products having first and second parts that are symmetrical with respect to an intermediate plane, each part including a base branch connectable to the first part, and a distal branch connectable to the second part. The base branch and the distal branch are connected together according to a general book-like configuration. A dorsal part of the book-like configuration for connection between the base and the distal branches is set at a distance from said intermediate plane, the base branch connects the two parts to form a single body, each of which can connect mutually facing edges of the end parts of an absorbent sanitary product and to ensure the fastening of the flaps set on the sides. The fastening element can enable releasing and refastening the product and/or adjusting the fit of the product to the wearer's body.
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for affixing a supplementary product (22) to a printed product (36). According to the invention, in order to pick up the supplementary product (22), holding elements (12) driven along a circulation path (26) have at least one suction element (24, 25). In order to bend the initially flat supplementary product (22) in such a way that it can be placed around an edge (36c) of the printed product (36), there is at least one bending element (18). This is capable of acting on the supplementary product (22) held on one side by the suction element (24, 25) in such a way that the said supplementary product (22) is bent at least approximately in a V shape. Holding element (12) and bending element (18) interact with a supporting element (44) in such a way that the supplementary product (22), reaching over an edge (36c) of the printed product (36), is pressed onto two opposite sides (36a, 36b) of the printed product (36).
Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to a process for increasing the strength of a component of a laminated absorbent article. The material basis weight of the component may be increased by introducing a material basis weight increasing agent onto at least a portion of the component. The material basis weight increasing agent comprises selected ratios of crystalline and amorphous polymers. In some versions of the invention, polymers capable of existing in different configurations (e.g., a polymer such as polypropylene which can exist in an atactic, syndiotactic, or isotactic configuration) are used to prepare the material basis weight increasing agents of the present invention.
