Abstract: A syntactic metal foam composite that is substantially fully dense except for syntactic porosity is formed from a mixture of ceramic microballoons and matrix forming metal. The ceramic microballoons have a uniaxial crush strength and a much higher omniaxial crush strength. The mixture is continuously constrained while it is consolidated. The constraining force is less than the omniaxial crush strength. The substantially fully dense syntactic metal foam composite is then constrained and deformation worked at a substantially constant volume. The deformation working is typically performed at a yield strength that is adjusted by way of selecting a working temperature at which the yield strength is approximately less than the omniaxial crush strength of the included ceramic microballoons. This deformation causes at least work hardening and grain refinement in the matrix metal.

Abstract: A flexible container cover with an elastic gathering band around its edge is formed from a rectangular sheet of plastic film with recessed cut corners to form four flaps. The sheet is placed atop a mandrel having a rectangular flat top with eaves or undercut surfaces and four corner slots. Four hooks are positioned outside the slots so they underlie the cut-off corners of the sheet. An elastic band is stretched around the hooks and the flaps of the sheet. The hooks are moved inwardly into the slots to allow the segments of the band to pull and fold a middle portion of each flap inward. A set of tucker blades is then moved inward to push the folded portions of the flaps against side surfaces of the mandrel under the eaves. Four heat-sealing bars are moved up against the eaves to seal the flaps around the segments of the band to form hems.
Abstract: A device and method are disclosed for forming air filled cushions. The device includes a drive mechanism to move inflatable tubing through the apparatus, and an injector, optionally including an outlet, located continuously within, or within a portion of, the tubing. This arrangement can permit the formation of air filled cushions in a continuous stream. Also disclosed is a roll of plastic tubing that is sealed transversely at a succession of intervals, with each pair of seals stopping just short of a longitudinal center line of the tubing. Such tubing might be used in conjunction with the apparatus, the central gap between the seals allowing passage of the injector.

Abstract: Rollers faced with silicone and having no build lines are produced by wrapping pigment/filler-containing addition-curable silicone rubber strips around a roller substrate followed by curing to an integral silicone layer, wherein build lines are prevented by selecting the strips such that physical properties at the edge regions of the strip due to orientation of pigment/filler particles is minimized.
Abstract: To provide a glass substrate with protective glass which suppresses formation of microscopic scratches on the back surface of the glass substrate in the production process for a display device, and which prevents a strength decrease in the process or formation of etch pits after a chemical etching treatment; a process for producing a display device by using the glass substrate with protective glass; and a double-sided removable resin sheet for the glass substrate with protective glass. A glass substrate with protective glass, which comprises a glass substrate and a protective glass plate laminated on each other, and which is characterized in that the glass substrate and the protective glass plate are laminated by a double-sided removal resin sheet.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a multilayer wiring substrate processes a via hole without unnecessarily increasing the diameter thereof and which can easily achieve the formation of fine wiring. A first resin layer in a cured state is prepared in which at least one first via hole including a bottom made of a conductive pattern is formed by laser processing, a second resin layer in an uncured state is prepared in which at least one second via hole is formed to penetrate therethrough at a position corresponding to the first via hole, and the first resin layer and the second resin layer are laminated to each other so that the first via hole and the second via hole communicate with each other. After a conductive paste is simultaneously filled in the first via hole and the second via hole, a metal foil is pressure-bonded to the second resin layer, and the second resin layer and the conductive paste are simultaneously cured. Subsequently, the metal foil is patterned.
Abstract: A method for combining with adhesive at least two flat products positioned at least partially one above the other is provided. The method includes moving first flat products in an overlapping flow along a guiding line in a conveying direction and separating the first flat products into a non-overlapping flow after leaving the guiding line and while being conveyed through an underneath-arranged conveying region. The method also includes supplying second flat products from underneath the first flat products with a synchronous time relative to the first flat products. The second flat products each have an adhesive surface. The method further includes combining a respective one of the first flat products along the adhesive covered surface of an underneath supplied respective one of the second flat products.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a decorative surface of a furniture body or building structure comprises: manufacturing a layer of an art release sheet, depositing an uncured artificial stone mix on the art release sheet, compacting, and wrapping the art release sheet around a central core. The uncured artificial stone mix is allowed to partially or fully cure, wherein the art units in the art release sheet are embedded in the artificial stone mix. The decorative surface may be manufactured by loading an art deposit frame with art particles of a predetermined quantity and size, placing and vibrating the loaded art deposit frame on a base layer to create an art unit, and depositing an uncured artificial stone mix on the base layer comprising the art unit. Pressure is applied on the uncured artificial stone mix to compact and allow the artificial stone mix to partially or fully cure.
