Abstract: Disclosed herein are tools and techniques for using a single-finger single touch to zoom content. In one embodiment disclosed herein, a single-finger single touch on a touch screen displaying at least a page of content is detected. At least in response to the detecting the single-finger single touch, a page zoom is performed.

Abstract: Aspects of the present invention are directed to the stacking of visual items, and their subsequent expansion, or unstacking Upon selection of a stack, that stack expands into the individual visual items making up that stack. Further aspects of the present invention are directed to expanding a stack in different ways depending upon the circumstances. Further aspects of the present invention are directed to providing a hot area associated with, and potentially disposed around, a stack. Selection by the user of the hot area results in selection of the associated stack. The stack may itself be considered a single item that is itself selectable. After the stack is expanded, then the individual visual items making up the original stack are each individually selectable. However, when stacked, the individual items may not be selectable except as a complete stack.

Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) providing method, a display apparatus and a three-dimensional (3D) image providing system using the same are provided. The GUI providing method includes: generating a first GUI for changing settings for a 3D image and a second GUI for changing an environment; and outputting the first GUI and the second GUI. Thus, the settings for the 3D image can be changed more easily and conveniently.

Abstract: Menu items are displayed on a screen, for example in the form of user-activatable on-screen buttons. A root menu is displayed, including a “more” button that allows the user to navigate to one or more sub-menus. Each menu can contain function buttons, menu buttons, or any combination thereof. Function buttons provide direct access to functions. Menu buttons provide access to sub-menus, which may be provided in a hierarchical arrangement. In some sub-menus, a menu title button replaces the “more” button and provides access to a previously displayed menu. The user can activate a displayed function button in any menu or sub-menu to perform an action associated with the function button. In one aspect, all menus are displayed in the same area of the screen. When a menu is to be displayed, it replaces the previously displayed menu.

Abstract: The various implementations described herein enable bridging the use of a social networking application with the viewing and listening experiences associated with broadcast media. In particular, users are enabled to share and view nuanced comments associated with media content presented on a first type of device using Internet-enabled second devices. For example, a client device is enabled to synchronize a displayable user interface with a post stream associated with a particular broadcast media program as it is airing; and to present and enable user selection and modification of one or more social network post templates associated with the particular broadcast media program in order to produce a user-specific social network post. The user-specific social network post is then transmitted to a server system. In addition to providing the social network post templates, the server system operates to publish the user-specific social network post in the appropriate post stream.

The uniform prism includes a plurality of faces. Each face has Graphical User Interface (GUI) controls for a unique function set. Only one face of the uniform prism is visible at a time. Each face is displayed with a geometric shape conforming to a face geometry of the multidimensional solid when the multidimensional solid is being rotated, and a face is displayed as filling a screen when the multidimensional solid is not being rotated. An input module receives a rotational command. The rotational command rotates the uniform prism around the central horizontal axis. The rotation module rotates the uniform prism to display a second face in response to the rotational command, displaying the rotation of the uniform prism.

Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for streaming a media includes a server side receiver for receiving a request to stream a media from a media player. The apparatus further includes a content generator, a server side transmitter, and a media stream generator. The content generator is configured to generate content information providing a plurality of presentation options to consume the media. The server side transmitter is configured to send the content information. The server side receiver is further configured to receive a selected presentation option from amongst the plurality of presentation options. The media stream generator is configured to generate a media stream comprising the media based on the selected presentation option.

Abstract: An information input device includes a display device that displays an information input screen image and a touch-panel that is arranged on the display device and specifies a designated position on the information input screen image. On a function setting area, a plurality of function setting keys are displayed and, if a flick operation to the right made by the input device on the function setting area is detected, detailed setting items corresponding to each of the function setting keys are displayed on a detailed settings area. Consequently, contents of detailed settings can be displayed at one time in correspondence with each of the function setting keys. Therefore, it becomes possible for the user to easily confirm whether or not function setting is appropriate, and to smoothly select a function.

Abstract: A method for recommending content items to a user is provided. It includes: (i) receiving one of at least an acceptance input and a rejection input from a user in relation to content presented to the user; (ii) in response to an acceptance input, rendering the presented content, or in response to a rejection input, selecting fresh content for presentation; and, (iii) repeating steps (i) and (ii) until a acceptance input is received. Content is selected in dependence on a associated probability associated with that content. The probability is increased in response to an acceptance input, the increase being determined in part on a measure of a predicted reduction in user satisfaction that would be associated with an additional rejection input.

Abstract: A platform allows experts, for example home improvement professionals, to upload their portfolios, i.e. content such as photos, videos, text, and sound, to a publicly available resource, such as a Web browser accessible, network based commerce system. Users may then browse the content, for example by room, style, and metro area. The content is arranged in collections that are in part passively sorted, based upon user relevance. Tags are shown on objects, for example within photos, for which there is more information. In the case of a movable display device, the tags can simulate the physics of real tags, for example they can move back and forth when the device is shaken. Abstract: An approach for selecting points of archived history data for viewing. The approach may relate to a user interface workflow of selecting points. Site controllers may be configured using control entity definitions, history extensions, point group naming and template features of a supervisor. The supervisor may provide for selection of groups or categories of sites and controllers within selected sites using selection boxes. This may permit a user to quickly refine site selection by, for example, filtering by group, site category, and a refined site list box. Once a site, the controllers and desired point groups and other appropriate items have been selected, the user may proceed to view historical data for the selected sites and controller points.

Abstract: Traffic flow data representing traffic conditions on a road system is obtained. A user selects a start geographical location and an end geographical location. An animated flythrough 3D graphical map is then created and displayed beginning at the start geographical location and navigating toward the end geographical location. The traffic flow data is continuously displayed during the flythrough.

Abstract: Virtual media environments are provided. A first set of media components is received and modified to create a first virtual media instance. The first virtual media instance is provided to a user via at least one media output device. Media parameters corresponding to the user are updated based on the first virtual media instance. A second set of media components is also received. The second set is modified based on the updated media parameters to create a second virtual media instance.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method of presenting several user interface (UI) controls for editing images. Upon receiving a selection of an image to edit, the method displays the image in a display area for displaying edits to the image. At a first location, the method receives input to activate a UI tool includes the several UI tools. In response to the input, the method displays, at a second location, a fanning animation that fans the several UI controls from a fanned closed layout to a fanned open layout.
