Abstract: An information processing apparatus for performing dialogue processing. The apparatus acquires text data described in a natural language and stores a plurality of examples each including an example statement and frame information described using a frame format and corresponding to the example statement. A similarity between the text data and the example statement is calculated. An example is selected corresponding to an example statement whose similarity to the text data is the highest from among the plurality of examples in accordance with the calculated similarity. Text data is converted into the frame format in accordance with the frame information corresponding to the example selected by the example selection. Dialogue processing is performed in accordance with the text data converted into the frame format.

Abstract: Data deduplication compression in a streaming storage application, is provided. The disclosed deduplication process provides a deduplication archive that enables storage of the archive to, and extraction from, a streaming storage medium. One implementation involves compressing fully sequential data stored in a data repository to a sequential streaming storage, by: splitting fully sequential data into data blocks; hashing content of each data block and comparing each hash to an in-memory lookup table for a match, the in-memory lookup table storing all hashes that have been encountered during the compression of the fully sequential data; for each data block without a hash match, adding the data block as a new data block for compression of fully sequential data; and encoding duplicate data blocks using the in-memory lookup table into data segments.

Abstract: In one embodiment the present invention includes a computer-implemented method comprising receiving a first query in a local computer system to access data stored on a remote computer system the local computer system. Data elements of the remote data are associated with data elements of the local data. The query is transformed into multiple queries. A second query is sent to the remote computer system to retrieve remote data. A first data result is received and stored on the local computer system and incorporated into a third query. The third query is executed against the local data and the first data result to produce a result. Sensitive data may be stored locally in a dimension table of a star schema and non-sensitive data may be stored remotely in a fact table and another dimension table of the star schema, for example.

Abstract: The system and methods disclosed herein validate the authenticity of a document and an individual's claimed identity. The system and method use a validation facility that is configurable to compare and match characteristics of biometric and non-biometric data presented by an individual with biometric and non-biometric data received from a request to a database or file system holding such information. The determination on the matching characteristics of the data can occur in completely automated fashion without intervention from the user, but user intervention is also possible allowing the user to review and override certain data discrepancies. The validation facility provides a user interface for use by a user to review a determination on the data analysis and instruct the validation facility to override that determination if the user determines the cause of the identity verification failure is within an acceptable criterion.

Abstract: Load-balancing and scaling for analytics data may be provided. A logging system may receive data and select a stager database in which to store the data. The selection may be made according to an identifier associated with the data. The stored data may be processed and stored back to the stager database before being copied to a reporting database. The processed data may be aggregated with other data in the reporting database to provide an analytics report.

Abstract: Illustrative embodiments provide a computer-implemented method for hybrid push/pull of continuous structured query language queries. The computer-implemented method receives stream input, wherein the stream input comprises events of interest, builds and a state machine and stream plans, based on an original query, and replicates the stream input. Responsive to a push sub-query trigger, the computer-implemented method submits a pull sub-query to the database to produce a result, and sends the result to a requester.

Abstract: An embodiment is provided wherein a search query is received from a user. It may then be determined if the search query would ordinarily result in a results page having no sponsored search advertising. If the search would ordinarily result in a results page having no sponsored search advertising, then advertising that would ordinarily be displayed in response to each of two or more search terms making up the search query individually may be aggregated. Then one or more advertisements may be selected from the aggregated advertising. Then the selected advertisements may be displayed on a results page responsive to the search query.

Abstract: Provided is a method for accessing medical information. The medical information is distributed across data files. The method includes receiving data files relevant to the medical information, selecting a current layout from a plurality of layouts for making the data files accessible, providing previous layout information, referring to a previous layout in which the data file has been acquired, the previous layout information is usable for automatically adapting the current layout to the previous layout, detecting markers associated with the received data files, the markers referring to a location of interest within one of the received data files, adapting the markers of the previous layout to the current layout to mark the same location of interest, and providing access to the medical information in the selected current layout to make browsable the data files and the markers within the data files.

Abstract: A technique authenticates a user of a massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG). The technique involves establishing a user database containing user information describing the MMORPG user based on a set of first transmissions received from a game provider of the MMORPG. The technique further involves (i) receiving a second transmission from the game provider, the second transmission including an authentication request to authenticate the MMORPG user, and (ii) providing a response transmission to the game provider in response to the second transmission. The response transmission includes an authentication result based on an adaptive authentication operation involving the user database. The authentication result controls whether the game provider provides the MMORPG user with current access to the MMORPG.

One or more of the received images are associated with one or more terms. Degrees of similarity between a plurality of pairs of images in the plurality of images is determined. A respective weight with respect to a first image of the plurality of images is assign to one or more of the terms based at least on the degrees of similarity. One or more of the terms are selected based on the respective weights of the terms with respect to the first image, and the selected terms are associated with the respective image.

Abstract: A system determines whether a term of a search query is a term with little significance based on a context of the search query. The system performs a search based on the search query while considering the term with little significance as optional when the search query includes the term with little significance and presents a list of search results based on the search.

Abstract: A method may be performed by a device of a group of devices in a distributed data replication system. The method may include storing objects in a data store, at least one or more of the objects being replicated with the distributed data replication system, and conducting a scan of the objects in the data store. The method may further include identifying one of the objects as not having a reference pointing to the object, storing a delete negotiation message as metadata associated with the one of the objects, and replicating the metadata with the delete negotiation message to one or more other devices of the group of devices.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for rendering search results are described. In one aspect of the invention, a search request is received from a computerized client. A search is performed based on the search request in at least two different categories of information to obtain search results in the searched categories. Selected search results are returned to the client to facilitate rendering the search results at the client. Search results from different search categories are returned in a manner configured to be presented in different panes of a graphical user interface rendered on the client. In another aspect, what searches to perform can be determined based at least in part upon search results display settings associated with the client, such that searches are performed only in categories of information that are associated with a pane that is in an open state on the client.

Abstract: The disclosure is related to systems and methods of distributing data in devices with multiple storage entities. In a particular embodiment, a system is disclosed that includes multiple storage entities, with each storage entity having a sub-controller. A controller is communicatively coupled to each of the multiple storage entities. The controller is configured to send at least one of a respective copy of data or metadata associated with the respective copy of the data to each of the multiple storage entities. Upon receipt of the at least one of the respective copy of the data or the metadata associated with the respective copy of the data, each sub-controller provides storage competency information of the respective storage entity for the respective copy of the data. Upon receiving storage competency information for the multiple storage entities, the controller selects a particular one of the multiple storage entities and notifies the selected storage entity to store the respective copy of the data.
