  • Patent number: 10475361
Abstract: A device which includes a display can provide adjustable light output, based in part on the color of the display screen output, to control the light output of the display screen. An illumination processor can adjustably control light output based on the colors of portions of the display screen. The light output can be adjusted to maintain the light output of the display screen across a range of colors of display screen light output. Controlling the light output of the display screen results in controlling the illuminance of a subject. The device can include a camera which captures an image of the subject and displays the image on a portion of the display screen, where the light output of a portion of the display screen can illuminate the subject such that the captured image has at least a certain level of image quality.

  • Patent number: 10477075
Abstract: Provided are image forming apparatuses, non-transitory recording media each storing a computer-readable program for obtaining paper information, and paper-information obtaining methods. An image forming apparatus includes at least one reflection-type optical sensor that measures a sheet in a sheet path, and at least one backing configured to change optical density of a backing face which is to be placed under a sheet in the sheet path for a measurement of the sheet with each of the at least one reflection-type optical sensor. A hardware processor in a system including the image forming apparatus, causes the at least one reflection-type optical sensor to take measurements of a sheet in the sheet path by using different optical densities of the backing face, and calculates paper weight, which is weight of paper per unit area, of the sheet on the basis of the result of the measurements.

  • Patent number: 10477403
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring telephone calls to detect fraudulent activity and take corrective action is described. The system receives a group of telephone calls having associated call characteristics and analyzes the group of telephone calls to identify and store a first set of distributions of call characteristics that are indicative of normal activity, fraudulent activity, or indeterminate activity. The system receives one or more subsequent telephone calls to be analyzed. The system analyzes the received one or more telephone calls to identify a second set of distributions of call characteristics associated with the received telephone call. The system then compares the second set of distributions of call characteristics to the stored first set of distributions of call characteristics to assess a probability that the one or more received telephone calls represents normal, fraudulent, or indeterminate activity.

  • Patent number: 10474402
Abstract: A print management server provided outside a predetermined LAN includes a receiver, a processor, and a transmitter. The receiver receives a print output instruction from a communication terminal of a user, the print output instruction being issued to a print output device provided inside the predetermined LAN and being an instruction to print out a print target file. The processor determines whether the print target file is present inside the predetermined LAN. When it is determined that the print target file is present inside the predetermined LAN, the transmitter transmits a generation command to a communication relay device inside the predetermined LAN, the generation command being a command to generate print job data on the basis of the print target file acquired by the communication relay device and a print setting instruction.

  • Patent number: 10455117
Abstract: A binary image of an input image is generated, and a character region within the binary image and a region surrounding each character are acquired as character segmentation rectangle information. A thinning process is executed on a region within the binary image which is identified based on the character segmentation rectangle information to acquire a thinned image. An edge detected image of the region identified based on the character segmentation rectangle information is acquired. Whether each character identified based on the character segmentation rectangle information is a character to be separated from a background by the binarization process or not is determined based on a result of a logical AND of the thinned image and the edge detected image.

  • Patent number: 10445942
Abstract: Techniques are provided to rank a set of candidate hologram placement locations based on a defined set of rules or criteria. An environment's spatial mapping is initially accessed. This spatial mapping describes the environment in a 3D representation. By analyzing this spatial mapping, an unordered set of candidate hologram placement locations is generated. These candidate hologram placement locations are locations that are identified from within the environment as being locations that are potentially suitable for hosting a hologram. To be selected, each of the candidate hologram placement locations is required to satisfy certain minimum criteria. Thereafter, these candidate hologram placement locations are then ranked based on a set of pre-defined hologram placement criteria to generate a set of ranked candidate hologram placement locations. This set of ranked candidate hologram placement locations is then exposed by causing the set to be accessible during a hologram placement event.
