Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for detecting malfunctions of computing devices causing outputs of video content. Partially or fully static content frames may be detected, and, indications may be generated based on the static content frames. The indications may be analyzed to identify computing devices with degraded performance. Diagnostic tests may be run by the identified computing devices and/or other actions performed based on a determination of static content frames.

Abstract: A system is provided for dynamic scheduling and channel creation based on external data. Audience-based parameters comprising demographics data, targeted audience data, device type data, and trending information that includes media items based on current trend in social network platform are received from external data source. A media item to be inserted in first media feed of first channel is determined based on a plurality of pre-encoded media content, metadata, audience-based parameters and defined parameters. The plurality of pre-encoded media content is segmented into a plurality of media segments, each corresponding to different quality level and content encryption mode. A second channel is generated from first channel based on audience-based parameters, insertion of media item, and second programming schedule. The second programming schedule is generated from modification of first programming schedule based on audience-based parameters.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for automatically transitioning program delivery/reception between alternative sources, e.g., from a non-IP channel to an IP video source or between two alternative IP sources are described. The transition maybe triggered by a detected problem with the delivery via the non-IP channel or because of scheduled service. The transition may be in response to a command sent to a device or because the receiving device detects a problem with one of the content sources triggering an automatic switch to the alternative content source. In at least some embodiments the different content sources corresponding to different coding methods, e.g., with MPEG-2 encoded and packetized content being delivered by a non-IP content delivery channel and MPEG-4 being delivered using unicast IP content delivery techniques. The methods facilitate deployment of new services with IP content delivery being deployed initially on a regional basis with non-IP content delivery gradually being rolled out.

Abstract: A system is provided for dynamic scheduling and channel creation based on external data. A media item to be inserted in a first media feed of a first channel is determined based on a plurality of pre-encoded media content, metadata, audience-based parameters received from external data source and defined parameters. The plurality of pre-encoded media content comprises live feed and is segmented into a plurality of media segments, each corresponding to different quality level and content encryption mode. A second channel is generated from first channel based on audience-based parameters, insertion of media item, and a second programming schedule. The second programming schedule is generated from modification of first programming schedule based on content recognition-based information that corresponds to the live feed of one of a plurality of channels. The media item is delivered, in viewable format, in second media feed of second channel to a consumer device.

Abstract: A broadcast receiving apparatus capable of executing a function with a higher added value includes: a receiving unit configured to receive the video data of the digital broadcast program, the program-cooperation data, and the screen layout control information; a video generating unit configured to divide a video display region for a video to be outputted into a plurality of regions on the basis of the screen layout control information, arrange program video information and other information in each of the plurality of regions, and generate video information; a display unit configured to display the output video information; and a control unit which can, where there is no effective screen layout control information control the video generating unit so as not to divide the video display region and to generate the program video information as the output video information until effective screen layout control information is obtained.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method for recognizing an image by an electronic device and a configuration of the electronic device for same. The method for recognizing an image by an electronic device of the present disclosure comprises the steps of: capturing an image of content; acquiring, form a server, content recognition information matching a recognized text by recognizing the text from a text area, if the text area is identified in the captured image, and acquiring, from the server, content recognition information matching an extracted fingerprint by extracting the fingerprint from the captured image, if the text area is not identified in the captured image; and storing at least one of the content recognition information matching the acquired text and the content recognition information matching the fingerprint.

Abstract: The disclosure provides a method for employing automatic content recognition to allow resumption of watching interrupted media program from television broadcast. The method includes detecting a viewing cessation of a media program on a channel of a media device. A television broadcaster provides media content including the channel. The channel includes the media program. The method also includes, in response to detecting the viewing cessation of the media program, identifying the channel, the media program, the television broadcaster, and a location of the viewing cessation within the media program. The method further includes detecting a viewing recommencement of the channel of the media device. In response to detecting the viewing recommencement, the method includes overlaying a selectable indicator on the channel. The selectable indicator is configured to receive a selection input to resume viewing of the media program starting at the location of the viewing cessation of the media program.

Abstract: An audio/video stream recording, storage, and delivery system 10 utilizes an Internet-based browser connection. The system 10 includes recording software 20, storage memory 30, a code generator 40, and a user interface 50. Preferably, the recording software 20 is located on the host back end 60 where it processes and records audio and video material that originates from the user front end 70 and is streamed to the host back end. The storage memory 30, which is also located on the host back end 60, stores the recorded audio and video material. The user interface 50 to the system provides a user located at the user front end 70 with remote access to a virtual recording room. The user interface 50 further enables the user to record audio and video material streamed from the user front end 70 by activating the recording software 20 located on the host back end 60. This is accomplished without requiring recording functionality on the user front end 70.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method and an apparatus for synthesizing a video, and a storage medium. The method is implemented as follows. A video to be synthesized is displayed on a video editing interface. In response to a video sharing instruction, a friend recommendation list is acquired and displayed. The friend recommendation list is used for indicating a plurality of sharing objects. A synthesized video is generated based on the video and the target sharing object. A reminding mark for indicating the target sharing object is displayed on a video picture of the synthesized video.

Abstract: A media content packaging and distribution system that handles distribution of channels to be viewed on consumer devices receives a media feed and a first programming schedule of a first channel from a source device, and receives audience-based parameters from an external data source over a distribution system. Media items to be inserted in the media feed of the first channel are determined based on the audience-based parameters and defined parameters. The determined media items in the media feed of the first channel are dynamically scheduled for delivery over the distribution system to be viewed on one or more of the consumer devices, based on the received audience-based parameters and the defined parameters. The audience-based parameters include demographics data, targeted audience data, and/or device type and the data received from the external data source includes trending information of media items currently trending in one or more social network platforms.

Abstract: Systems and methods for, while a user is consuming a first media asset, generating for the user a recommendation of a second media asset based on a viewing history of the user. In some aspects, the systems and methods determine that a user is consuming only video of a first media asset, determine a first category for the first media asset, and retrieve a viewing history corresponding to the user. The viewing history comprises media assets consumed simultaneously with a media asset corresponding to the first category. The systems and methods select a second category corresponding to a highest number of media assets in the viewing history, select a second media asset based on the second category. Alternatively, the user can select the second media asset manually. The systems and methods generate for output the audio of the second media asset for simultaneous consumption with the video of the first media asset.

An input of a selection of one of the plurality of media content items displayed at the EPG in the user interface is received. The selected media content item is displayed in a focus area in the EPG. The focus area comprises a rectangular area that is located near the overview area. The focus area comprises expanded metadata of the selected media content item for presentation in the focus area.

Abstract: A broadcast receiving apparatus includes: a digital broadcast receiver configured to receive digital broadcasting in which contents are transmitted; a network transceiver configured to execute network communication; a data string converter configured to perform a mixing process for creating a new coded data string based on a coded data string of the received contents and a coded data string acquired by the network transceiver; a digital interface configured to output the contents to external equipment; and a controller configured to determine a state of the network communication of the external equipment. The state of the network communication of the external equipment includes a first state in which the network communication is in a communicable state and a second state in which the network communication is in an uncommunicable state. In accordance with the determined state of the network communication, the digital interface performs three types of output operations.

Abstract: Described herein is a platform for providing a resource catalog local to an appliance device, such that the appliance device is able to generate a transaction related to one or more resources within the resource catalog. In some embodiments, the appliance device may receive resource information within streaming data. For example, the appliance device may receive an indication that a portion of streaming media data is related to a resource. Upon determining that a portion of streaming data is related to a resource, the appliance device may be configured to store the portion of data in relation to the identified resource. A user may retrieve and/or execute the portion of streaming data at a later date. In some embodiments, the user may request that a transaction be conducted with respect to the resource and a corresponding transaction request may be generated by the appliance device.

An example method includes displaying on an interface of a computing device, a plurality of tracks in a sequential order. The example method receiving, via the interface, an input to play a particular track from the plurality of tracks, wherein the particular track is at a particular position in the sequential order. The example method displaying on the interface, a queue comprising at least a subset of the plurality of tracks to be played after playback of the particular track, wherein each track in the subset of the plurality of tracks is at a different position in the sequential order than the particular position of the particular track.
