  • Patent number: 10142487
Abstract: Personalized reminder notifications are provided regarding communication-related events. The reminders correspond to missed communications or events unaddressed by a user, and may be determined based on sensor data provided by a user device. Further, an urgency level for the unaddressed event and a user availability model for responding to the event may be determined. The model may include a set of scores corresponding to the user's capability for carrying out tasks associated with responding to the unaddressed event, such as composing email or initiating a call. Additionally, reminder notification content may be generated based on information about availability and the unaddressed event, and used to provide notification(s). The notification content may include a recommendation to present a notification to the user at a future time determined likely to be convenient for the user to respond to the event or where the user likely will have capacity to respond appropriately.

  • Patent number: 10143027
Abstract: Using a method of operating a system that includes remote servers, at least one electronic device, and multiple portable wireless devices, a user provides a verbal notification to the electronic device to place an outgoing call. The system uses the remote servers and other parts of the system to determine that one of the multiple portable wireless devices should be used for the outgoing call, and establishes a wireless connection between that portable wireless device and the electronic device. The system determines the particular portable wireless device to use by comparing the called entity with contacts associated with the multiple portable wireless devices, and selecting the portable wireless device with a contact that matches the called entity.

  • Patent number: 10135906
Abstract: Information regarding the status of an update to a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) being performed across a mobile wireless communication network is provided to a server involved in the update process and/or to a user of the mobile communication device having the UICC. The UICC update server sends an update trigger to the mobile communication device, and the UICC initiates establishment of a communication link to receive the update. The UICC further causes a baseband processor of the mobile communication device to send a proof-of-receipt of the update trigger by short message service (SMS) messaging back to the update server. Additionally or alternatively, the UICC causes the baseband processor to send a wakeup message to a mobile device application executing on the mobile device. The wakeup message includes status information relating to the UICC update which can be provided to a user of the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 10134264
Abstract: In an emergency report apparatus, diagnostic data is modulated based on a preselected diagnostic modulation method by using a diagnostic carrier wave having a carrier wave frequency that is set within a range of frequencies detectable by a vehicle-mounted voice input instrument and is outside a voice band. A diagnostic electric signal is outputted to a voice output instrument. Demodulated data is generated by demodulating an input voice electric signal being a voice electric signal representing a voice detected by the voice input instrument based on a preselected diagnostic demodulation method. It is determines whether the demodulated data includes data that matches the diagnostic data.

  • Patent number: 10123377
Abstract: By first determining whether network conditions make it possible and necessary to assist the network in supporting communication devices in comparatively poor radio coverage, and then periodically determining what type of assistance would best improve the overall network performance, a cellular telecommunications network is dynamically adapted to improve overall network performance without requiring the introduction of new network equipment. In one example, the dynamic activation of the radio coverage assistance serves to reduce problems associated with users at the cell edge, resulting in improvements in overall cell capacity.

  • Patent number: 10094904
Abstract: The present invention concerns, inter alia, a method for generating location data for locating a mobile communication terminal (20) in a cellular communication network, said communication network being comprised of a number of radio cells (40, 50, 60). The basics are that the communication terminal (20) successively establishes a connection to a number of two or more radio cells (40, 50, 60) having the same and/or different field strengths, in that the communication terminal (20) maintains the connection to the respective radio cell (40, 50, 60) for a defined time period, and in that after the defined time period has elapsed, the communication terminal (20) terminates the connection to the radio cell (40, 50, 60) and establishes a connection to the next radio cell (40, 50, 60). The information items arising from this process are used on the network side to generate location data by means of which the communication terminal (20) can be located.

  • Patent number: 10091008
Abstract: A method and apparatus advantageously consider historic usage data in determining the credit reservations made against subscriber accounts during online charging operations. In particular, with respect to a communication between first and second parties that is subject to online charging, the method and apparatus use historic usage data associated with at least one of the first and second parties, to determine credit reservations against an involved subscriber account. This approach makes the credit reservation better reflect the usage pattern or history of one or both parties. In some embodiments, the historic usage data is generalized with respect to the called or contacted party. In other embodiments, the historic usage data is generalized with respect to the calling or contacting party. In still other embodiments, the historic usage data is particularized to reflect a historic usage pattern of communication between the first and second parties.
